TL;DR: This article presents a flexible permissioned ascription (FPA) scheme that uses on-chain and off-chain permissioning scheme via Orion and Metamask wallet that employs contract permissioning through a JavaScript based chain code deployed over Hyperledger Besu with istanbul byzantine fault tolerant (IBFT) 2.0 consensus algorithm.
Abstract: Peer to Peer energy trading systems faces many complexities and challenges, prosumers privacy, security threats, gapped communication, payment settlement delays, performance bottlenecks among others. With the proliferation and sophis- tication of the smart grid, Blockchain-based solutions have gained a lot of attention in securing several domains, including the energy sector. However, the majority of existing solutions either employ Ethereum-based permissionless Blockchains that are highly scalable and secure, although performance inefficient; or use Hyperledger-based permissioned Blockchains that offer high security but are plagued by poor scalability and fault- tolerant capabilities in a decentralized environment. The need for upcoming decentralized energy is a hybrid framework that can provide efficient performances with node and smart contract permissioning schemes.
