TL;DR: Results from both experiments are combined with those from the Bugey-3 reactor neutrino experiment to constrain oscillations into light sterile neutrinos, enabling the combined analysis to probe regions allowed by the Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector (LSND) and MiniBooNE experiments in a minimally extended four-neutrinos flavor framework.
Abstract: Searches for a light sterile neutrino have been performed independently by the MINOS and the Daya Bay experiments using the muon (anti)neutrino and electron antineutrino disappearance channels, respectively. In this Letter, results from both experiments are combined with those from the Bugey-3 reactor neutrino experiment to constrain oscillations into light sterile neutrinos. The three experiments are sensitive to complementary regions of parameter space, enabling the combined analysis to probe regions allowed by the Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector (LSND) and MiniBooNE experiments in a minimally extended four-neutrino flavor framework. Stringent limits on sin 2 2θ_(μe) are set over 6 orders of magnitude in the sterile mass-squared splitting Δm^2_(41). The sterile-neutrino mixing phase space allowed by the LSND and MiniBooNE experiments is excluded for Δm^2_(41) <0.8 eV^2 at 95% CL_s.

TL;DR: In this paper, the BN interphase of SiC fiber-reinforced SiC matrix (SiCf/SiC) composites was fabricated by dip-coating process with boric acid and urea as precursor.
Abstract: The BN interphase of SiC fiber-reinforced SiC matrix (SiCf/SiC) composites was fabricated by dip-coating process with boric acid and urea as precursor. The results show that the tensile strength of SiC fiber decreases about 30% after BN coating treatment, but the BN coating has little influence on the electrical resistivity of SiC fiber. Compared with the as-received SiCf/SiC composites, the SiCf/SiC composites with BN interphase exhibit a toughened fracture behavior, and the flexural strength is about 2 times that of the as-received SiCf/SiC composites. From the microstructural analysis, it can be confirmed that the BN interphase plays a key part in weakening interfacial bonding, which can improve the mechanical properties of SiCf/SiC composites remarkably. Owing to the close dielectric properties between SiC and BN, the complex permittivity of SiCf/SiC composites with and without the BN interphase is similar.

TL;DR: The clutter sparsity observed by STAP radar systems is detailed and a theoretical analysis on clutterSparsity for a side-looking uniform linear array with constant pulse repetition frequency, constant velocity, and no crab is performed.
Abstract: To have a further understanding of the recently developed space-time adaptive processing (STAP) methods based on sparse representation (SR-STAP), this letter details the clutter sparsity observed by STAP radar systems. First, we review the principle and discuss the existing problems about clutter sparsity of the SR-STAP-type algorithms. Then, a theoretical analysis on clutter sparsity for a side-looking uniform linear array with constant pulse repetition frequency, constant velocity, and no crab is performed. Some important conclusions are obtained, and simulations are used to validate the correctness of them.

TL;DR: The present THz transition radiation enables not only a potential tabletop brilliant THz source, but also a novel noninvasive diagnostic for fast electron generation and transport in laser-plasma interactions.
Abstract: Coherent transition radiation in the terahertz (THz) region with energies of sub-mJ/pulse has been demonstrated by relativistic laser-driven electron beams crossing the solid-vacuum boundary. Targets including mass-limited foils and layered metal-plastic targets are used to verify the radiation mechanism and characterize the radiation properties. Observations of THz emissions as a function of target parameters agree well with the formation-zone and diffraction model of transition radiation. Particle-in-cell simulations also well reproduce the observed characteristics of THz emissions. The present THz transition radiation enables not only a potential tabletop brilliant THz source, but also a novel noninvasive diagnostic for fast electron generation and transport in laser-plasma interactions.
