TL;DR: In this paper, the tuning ranges for 1.5 mu m wavelength tunable distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) lasers were studied experimentally and over 10.0 nm (1.25 THz) quasicontinuous tuning under 5 mW light output conditions and 4.4 nm (550 GHz) continuous tuning at 1 mW were achieved.

TL;DR: A traffic control framework for ATM is proposed, that would provide guarantees on QOS for new bandwidth intensive applications that will place stringent requirements on the network in terms of the QOS they receive.
Abstract: Future broadband networks have to support new bandwidth intensive applications that will place stringent requirements on the network in terms of the QOS (quality of service) they receive. In spite of the the promise of abundant bandwidth, ATM would not be able to support such services unless adequate control is exercised within the network. In this paper, we propose a traffic control framework for ATM, that would provide guarantees on QOS for these new applications. Central to this framework is a traffic classification scheme that maps applications to specific traffic classes based on their QOS requirements and the statistical characteristics of their traffic, and a set of controls layered in time based on the time constant of events they control. The proposed traffic control framework can work across LANs, MANs, WANs, private and public networks in a seamless manner. The controls are designed to scale with distance, traffic volume and traffic type. A notable feature of this framework is that it depends on a minimum set of control functions to handle a wide range of traffic types. Further, it uses parameters for control that have already been standardized by ITU and the ATM Forum.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a memory cell with a free magnetic layer coupled anti-ferromagnetically through non-magnetic layers, which is provided at an intersection of the first and second wirings.
Abstract: MRAM includes a first wiring, a second wiring, and a memory cell. The first wiring extends to a first direction, and the second wiring extends to a second direction. The memory cell includes a free magnetic layer in which a plurality of magnetic layers coupled anti-ferromagnetically through non-magnetic layers are laminated, and is provided at an intersection of the first and second wirings. The magnetization direction of the free magnetic layer is different from the first and second directions. The writing method includes (a) reading a first data stored in the memory cell; (b) comparing a second data to be written to the memory cell and the first data; and (c) changing a direction of a first write current supplied to the first wiring and a direction of the second write current to be supplied to the second wiring, when the first data and second data are different.

TL;DR: In this article, the electrochemical behavior of activated carbon/carbon (AC/C) composite electrodes was investigated for high-power electric doublelayer capacitors (EDLCs) and it was found that high-rate charge/discharge characteristics are affected by the resistance of the electrolyte phase in the pores of the electrode.

TL;DR: In this article, a best-cell amendment method is disclosed for amending hysteresis margins according to the degree of congestion, where a radio network controller (RNC) compares the average value P(k) of transmission power of a downlink shared channel PDSCH of cell k and a first threshold value P_threshold1, to measure the congestion.
Abstract: A best-cell amendment method is disclosed for amending hysteresis margins according to the degree of congestion. A radio network controller (RNC) compares the average value P(k) of transmission power of a downlink shared channel PDSCH of cell k and a first threshold value P_threshold1 to measure the degree of congestion. If the RNC determines that the degree of congestion in cell k is high, it sets a small hysteresis margin hm_a, and if RNC determines that the degree of congestion in cell k is low, it sets a large hysteresis margin hm_b.
