TL;DR: This paper proposes to construct a stochastic reward nets (SRN) to model and analyze the availability of a virtualized system, and studies the effect on the availability when restrictions on the guard functions are relaxed.
Abstract: This paper develops an availability model of a virtualized system. We construct non-virtualized and virtualized two hosts system models using a two-level hierarchical approach in which fault trees are used in the upper level and homogeneous continuous time Markov chains (CTMC) are used to represent sub-models in lower level. In the models, we incorporate not only hardware failures (e.g., CPU, memory, power, etc) but also software failures including Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM), Virtual Machine (VM), and application failures. We also incorporate high availability (HA) service and VM live migration in the virtualized system. Metrics we use are system steady state availability, downtime in minutes per year and capacity oriented availability.

TL;DR: In this paper, a connection-oriented network where ATM nodes are interconnected by links is stored in a database to indicate resource constraints of the network links, and a first path to a destination is selected and a second signaling message is transmitted containing routing data of the first path toward the destination.
Abstract: In a connection-oriented network where ATM nodes are interconnected by links, periodically updated link status information of the network is stored in a database to indicate resource constraints of the network links Responsive to a connection request specifying multiple QOS parameters, a first path to a destination is selected and a first signaling message is transmitted containing routing data of the first path toward the destination if resource constraints of the first path satisfy all the specified QOS parameters If the transmission of the first signaling message is unsuccessful or the resource constraints of the first path do not satisfy all the specified QOS parameters, then a second path to the destination is selected according to contents of the database that correspond to one of the specified QOS parameters, and a second signaling message containing routing data of the second path is transmitted toward the destination

TL;DR: From this SVD, the authors are able, to not only derive the refined feature space to better cluster visually similar frames, but also define a metric to measure the amount of visual content contained in each frame cluster using its degree of visual changes.
Abstract: The authors propose a novel technique for video summarization based on singular value decomposition (SVD). For the input video sequence, we create a feature-frame matrix A, and perform the SVD on it. From this SVD, we are able, to not only derive the refined feature space to better cluster visually similar frames, but also define a metric to measure the amount of visual content contained in each frame cluster using its degree of visual changes. Then, in the refined feature space, we find the most static frame cluster, define it as the content unit, and use the context value computed from it as the threshold to cluster the rest of the frames. Based on this clustering result, either the optimal set of keyframes, or a summarized motion video with the user specified time length can be generated to support different user requirements for video browsing and content overview. Our approach ensures that the summarized video representation contains little redundancy, and gives equal attention to the same amount of contents.

TL;DR: In this paper, the arrangement of dummy patterns in the chip interior areas and scribe line areas was altered to enable the formation of dummy pattern with greater uniformity in chip interior area and enable formation of the dummy patterns with greater resistance to loss that occurs when dicing in scribe lines areas.
Abstract: In the semiconductor device of the present invention, a plurality of dummy patterns are formed in a grid arrangement in the scribe line areas of a wafer, and a plurality of dummy patterns are formed in a diagonally forward skipped arrangement in the chip interior areas of the wafer. Altering the arrangement of dummy patterns in the chip interior areas and scribe line areas in this way enables formation of dummy patterns with greater uniformity in the chip interior areas and enables formation of dummy patterns with greater resistance to loss that occurs when dicing in scribe line areas.
