Abstract: The output of known cooling equipment cabinets fitted with air-to-air heat exchangers is not sufficient for hot climates. The proposed cooling system is bipartite, comprising a first set of cooling equipment that provides for closed cooling air circulation inside the cabinet, and a second set of cooling equipment that provides for open cooling air circulation inside the cabinet. For most of the year, cooling of the cabinet can be handled with the first set of cooling equipment, which consists of an air-to-air heat exchanger (100). For the short period of time that the heat exchanger alone connot ensure sufficient cooling of the air inside the cabinet, the second set of cooling equipment will be employed to provide through-flow air circulation. This is achieved by drawing air into the cabinet through a filter (104) and blowing warmed-up air out. Because the period of time when the through-flow equipment needs to be used is short, it is not necessary to encase the equipment and the risk of the filters getting clogged is low, meaning that they need to be replaced less frequently.

Abstract: We investigated the emotional response patterns and sense of presence elicited by video games with different characteristics (i.e., Tetris, Super Monkey Ball 2, Monkey Bowling 2, and James Bond 007: NightFire) among 37 undergraduates. We also examined the moderating influence of the sensation seeking and self-forgetfulness traits on the responses. Participants self-reported their emotional responses, defined in terms of joy, pleasant relaxation, anger, fear, and depressed feeling, and sense of presence. The results showed that games with different characteristics elicit differential emotional response patterns, and the engagement elicited by the games varies as a function of the Sensation Seeking trait of the player. Measuring emotional response patterns may have practical implications for game design, given that they give information on the game characteristics that maximize entertainment and pleasure, and may potentially be used in pre-testing different versions of the games.

Abstract: A method, terminal device, network element, system and computer program product for controlling discontinuous reception or transmission at a terminal device of a communication network are disclosed. A regular discontinuous reception or transmission cycle of a regular discontinuous reception or transmission scheme is set by using a first control layer, and in addition thereto a shorter temporary discontinuous reception or transmission cycle of an interim discontinuous reception or transmission scheme can be set by using a second control layer. This arrangement provides long discontinuous reception or transmission cycles for power consumption improvements while at the same time ensuring that the network can easily and flexibly shorten these cycles for increased data throughput, if needed.

Abstract: Scalable video coding (SVC) and transmission has been a research topic for many years. Among other objectives, it aims to support different receiving devices, perhaps connected through a heterogeneous network structure, using a single bit stream. Earlier attempts of standardized scalable video coding, for example in MPEG-2, H.263, or MPEG-4 Visual, have not been commercially successful. Nevertheless, the Joint Video Team has recently focused on the development of the scalable video extensions of H.264/AVC, known as SVC. Some of the key problems of older scalable compression techniques have been solved in SVC and, at the same time, new and compelling use cases for SVC have been identified. While it is certainly important to develop coding tools targeted at high coding efficiency, the design of the features of the interface between the core coding technologies and the system and transport are also of vital importance for the success of SVC. Only through this interface, and novel mechanisms defined therein, applications can take advantage of the scalability features of the coded video signal. This paper provides an overview of the system interface features defined in the SVC specification. We discuss, amongst other features, bit stream structure, extended network abstraction layer (NAL) unit header, and supplemental enhancement information (SEI) messages related to scalability information.
