TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that threshold trust is not an option in most of the real-life electronic auctions, and propose two new cryptographic Vickrey auction schemes that involve, apart from the bidders and the seller S, an auction authority A so that unless S and A collude the outcome of auctions will be correct, and moreover, S will not get any information about the bids, while A will learn bid statistics.
Abstract: We argue that threshold trust is not an option in most of the real-life electronic auctions. We then propose two new cryptographic Vickrey auction schemes that involve, apart from the bidders and the seller S, an auction authority A so that unless S and A collude the outcome of auctions will be correct, and moreover, S will not get any information about the bids, while A will learn bid statistics. Further extensions make it possible to decrease damage that colluding S and A can do, and to construct (m + 1)st price auction schemes. The communication complexity between the S and A in medium-size auctions is at least one order of magnitude less than in the Naor-Pinkas-Sumner scheme.

TL;DR: This chapter provides an in-depth description of the LBP operator in spatial image domain, and its rotation-invariant and multiscale versions are introduced.
Abstract: This chapter provides an in-depth description of the LBP operator in spatial image domain. The generic LBP operator, and its rotation-invariant and multiscale versions are introduced. The use of complementary contrast information is also discussed. The success of LBP methods in various computer vision problems and applications has inspired much new research on different variants. The basic LBP has also some problems that need to be addressed. Therefore, several extensions and modifications of LBP have been proposed to increase its robustness and discriminative power.

TL;DR: In this paper, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) proxy adjunct is implemented to make extensions to messages according to any protocol providing a session description protocol (SDP) component, such as SIP or RTSP, so as to ensure the selected QoS.
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device (11) including a mobile terminal (MT) (11b 11b') coupled to a terminal equipment (TE) device (11a) including an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) proxy adjunct (P+) for use by the TE (11a) in making multimedia service requests for IP communications with a desired end-to-end QoS, the end-to-end including the local connection and a network supporting QoS, e.g. an UMTS network (12) having as an extension of its packet-switched core network (12b) an IMS (12c) providing multimedia services with selected QoS. The IMS proxy adjunct (P+) is implemented to make extensions to messages according to any protocol providing a session description protocol (SDP) component, such as SIP or RTSP, so as to ensure the selected QoS. In addition, a mechanism is provided by which the MT (11b') informs the IMS (12c) when it has IMS proxy capabilities.

TL;DR: In this paper, the design and implementation of an experimental Chireix outphasing system for a wideband code division multiple access 2.11-2.17 GHz downlink band is presented.
Abstract: A Chireix outphasing system for 2.14 GHz including two saturated class-B pseudomorphic high electron-mobility transistor power amplifiers (PAs) and a Chireix power-combining circuit is reported in this paper. In an outphasing system, an arbitrary input signal is divided into two constant envelope branches. The phase-only modulated branches are then amplified with high-efficiency nonlinear PAs. By controlling the phases of these branches, the original signal waveform can be reconstructed, ideally with high efficiency and perfect linearity. In this paper, the design and implementation of an experimental Chireix outphasing system for a wide-band code division multiple access 2.11-2.17-GHz downlink band is presented. The measured system efficiency for 7-dB backed-off quadrature phase-shift keying signal was 42.2% with a channel power of 31.2 dBm.
