09 Sep 2002TL;DR: The application of analysis techniques based on a linguistic approach to detect, within requirements documents, defects related to such an inherent ambiguity related to natural language sentences is discussed.
Abstract: The Use Case formalism is an effective way of capturing both business process and functional system requirements in a very simple and easy-to-learn way Use Cases may be modeled in a graphical way (eg using the UML notation), mainly serving as a table of content for Use Cases System behavior can more effectively be specified by structured natural language (NL) sentences The use of NL as a way to specify the behavior of a system is however a critical point, due to the inherent ambiguity originating from different interpretations of natural language descriptions We discuss the use of methods, based on a linguistic approach, to analyze functional requirements expressed by means of textual (NL) Use Cases The aim is to collect quality metrics and detect defects related to such inherent ambiguity In a series of preliminary experiments, we applied a number of tools for quality evaluation of NL text (and, in particular, of NL requirements documents) to an industrial Use Cases document The result of the analysis is a set of metrics that aim to measure the quality of the NL textual description of Use Cases We also discuss the application of selected linguistic analysis techniques that are provided by some of the tools to semantic analysis of NL expressed Use Case

07 Dec 2001TL;DR: In this article, a method and a communication terminal for establishing a group of wireless terminals are provided, comprising the steps of detecting a physical contact between users of the wireless terminals using a first circuit, establishing the group identified in the previous step of physically connected users using a second circuit, and confirming the establishment of the group using a message that is transmitted using the second circuit.
Abstract: A method and a communication terminal for establishing a group of wireless terminals are provided. The method comprising the steps of detecting a physical contact between users of the wireless terminals using a first circuit, establishing the group identified in the previous step of physically connected users of the wireless terminals using a second circuit of the wireless terminals. The step of detecting the physical contact comprising the step of transferring a signal via the physical contact between the users of the wireless terminals using the first circuit in the wireless terminals. The step of transferring a signal comprising the steps of generating the signal in the circuit, transferring the generated signal to a body of the user and to a body of a second user the users being physically connected, and detecting the signal in the circuit of the second user. The step of establishing the group comprising the step of confirming the establishment of the group between the users of the wireless terminals using a message that is transmitted using the second circuit.

TL;DR: This work discards the end-to-end ATM connection and integrates fast ATM hardware directly with IP, preserving the connectionless nature of IP, and uses the soft-state in the ATM hardware to cache the IP forwarding decision.
Abstract: Internet protocol (IP) traffic on the Internet and private enterprise networks has been growing exponentially for some time. This growth is beginning to stress the traditional processor-based design of current-day routers. Switching technology offers much higher aggregate bandwidth, but presently only offers a layer-2 bridging solution. Various proposals are under way to support IP routing over an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. However, these proposals hide the real network topology from the IP layer by treating the data-link layer as a large opaque network cloud. We argue that this leads to complexity, inefficiency, and duplication of functionality in the resulting network. We propose an alternative in which we discard the end-to-end ATM connection and integrate fast ATM hardware directly with IP, preserving the connectionless nature of IP. We use the soft-state in the ATM hardware to cache the IP forwarding decision. This enables further traffic on the same IP flow to be switched by the ATM hardware rather than forwarded by IP software. We claim that this approach combines the simplicity, scalability, and robustness of IP, with the speed, capacity, and multiservice traffic capabilities of ATM.

05 May 2012TL;DR: The results of this study demonstrate that MOSOCO facilitates practicing and learning social skills, increases both quantity and quality of social interactions, reduces social and behavioral missteps, and enables the integration of children with autism in social groups of neurotypical children.
Abstract: MOSOCO is a mobile assistive application that uses augmented reality and the visual supports of a validated curriculum, the Social Compass, to help children with autism practice social skills in real-life situations. In this paper, we present the results of a seven-week deployment study of MOSOCO in a public school in Southern California with both students with autism and neurotypical students. The results of our study demonstrate that MOSOCO facilitates practicing and learning social skills, increases both quantity and quality of social interactions, reduces social and behavioral missteps, and enables the integration of children with autism in social groups of neurotypical children. The findings from this study reveal emergent practices of the uses of mobile assistive technologies in real-life situations.

16 Dec 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for providing a user of a mobile terminal with additional information and control over various transaction processes and at the same time additional visibility to various transaction service providers by providing indications of near-field communication events on a near field communication device is presented.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of contact-less transactions, in particular to the field of near field communication and more particularly to smart card transactions over radio frequency identification interface. The present invention relates also to a method and system for providing a user of a mobile terminal with additional information and control over various transaction processes and at the same time additional visibility to various transaction service providers by providing indications of near field communication events on a near field communication device, with the steps of detecting a near field communication event, obtaining at least one indication of near field communication events in accordance with said detected near field communication event, and providing said at least one obtained indication.
