TL;DR: In this paper, the gaze fixation point of a user on a video image at a remote location is tracked and the user is selected to look at a fixed point in the video.
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and computer program products reduce bandwidth requirements in mobile video and gaming applications by tracking a gaze fixation point of a user on a video image at a remote location; generating information identifying the gaze fixation point at the remote location; transmitting the gaze fixation point information to a source of video information over a network; determining a portion of a video image to transmit at a high resolution and a remaining portion to transmit at a low resolution using the transmitted gaze fixation point information; and transmitting the portion of the video image selected for transmission at a high resolution at the high resolution and the portion of the video image selected for transmission at a low resolution at the low resolution. Further methods, apparatus and computer program product also reduce bandwidth requirements by receiving gaze fixation point information from a remote location, wherein the gaze fixation point information indicates where in a video image a user is currently looking; selecting a portion of video images to transmit at a high resolution and a portion of video images to transmit at a low resolution using the transmitted gaze fixation point information; and transmitting the portions of the video images at the determined resolutions.

TL;DR: The recent MTC enhancements in LTE system are presented and capacity evaluations performed based on devices per physical resource block indicate that significantly large number of devices can already be supported in an LTE system, based on the assumptions used, with minimal system overhead.
Abstract: Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications is considered to be one of the key enablers for the provisioning of advanced applications and services such as smart cities and hospitals, as well as automated vehicular and industrial automation operation. Currently, in LTE-Advanced systems, the main focus has been on supporting massive deployment of low cost devices, with enhanced radio access network coverage. In this work, we present the recent MTC enhancements in LTE system. Detailed performance analysis based on LTE system settings is also presented. The LTE capacity evaluations performed based on devices per physical resource block indicate that significantly large number of devices can already be supported in an LTE system, based on the assumptions used, with minimal system overhead. We also present an overview of some of the key scenarios, requirements and use cases currently being considered for M2M communication in fifth generation (5G) systems. The performance requirements currently being considered for massive and ultra-reliable M2M communication are also discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a list of motion vector predictor candidates is arranged according to predefined rules and each motion vector also has a reference index associated with it, and one of the candidates is then selected as a predictor based on predefined rule, or the selection is explicitly signaled in the bitstream.
Abstract: A system and method for improving the coding efficiency of motion vector information in video coding. According to various embodiments, a list of motion vector predictor candidates is arranged according to predefined rules. Each motion vector also has a reference index associated with it. One of the motion vector candidates is then selected as a predictor based on predefined rules, or the selection is explicitly signaled in the bitstream. The reference index associated with the selected motion vector is used as a reference index for the current block. The reference index is predicted along with the motion vector. Such embodiments can improve the compression efficiency of modern video codecs.

TL;DR: A roadmap from today's cloud-centric, data-centric IoT systems to the Programmable World highlights the technical challenges that deserve to be part of developer education and deserve deeper investigation beyond those IoT topics that receive the most attention today.
Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) represents the next significant step in the evolution of the Internet and software development. Although most IoT research focuses on data acquisition, analytics, and visualization, a subtler but equally important transition is underway. Hardware advances are making it possible to embed fully fledged virtual machines and dynamic language runtimes virtually everywhere, leading to a Programmable World in which all our everyday things are connected and programmable dynamically. The emergence of millions of remotely programmable devices in our surroundings will pose significant software development challenges. A roadmap from today's cloud-centric, data-centric IoT systems to the Programmable World highlights the technical challenges that deserve to be part of developer education and deserve deeper investigation beyond those IoT topics that receive the most attention today.

TL;DR: In this paper, the first receiver and the second transmitter are disposed within a first circuit package (29a), and the third and fourth receiver and first transmitter are disposing within a second circuit package(29b).
Abstract: A multi-mode radiotelephone (10) includes at least one antenna (12) for transmitting and receiving RF signals within at least two frequency bands. The radiotelephone also includes a first receiver (30, 34) having an input coupled to the antenna for amplifying and down-converting RF signals within a first frequency band and a second receiver (30a, 34a) having an input coupled to the antenna for amplifying and down-converting RF signals within a second frequency band. The radiotelephone further includes a first transmitter (44, 46, 48) having an output coupled to the antenna for up-converting and amplifying RF signals within the first frequency band and a second transmitter (44a, 46a, 48a) having an output coupled to the antenna for up-converting and amplifying RF signals within the second frequency band. In accordance with this invention the first receiver and the second transmitter are disposed within a first circuit package (29a), and the second receiver and the first transmitter are disposed within a second circuit package (29b). The first and second circuit packages may be integrated circuits or hybrid (e.g., thick or thin film) circuits.
