TL;DR: In this article, a facile in situ method of preparing noble-metal plasmonic photocatalysts M@TiO2 (M = Au, Pt, Ag) was developed.
Abstract: We developed a facile in situ method of preparing noble-metal plasmonic photocatalysts M@TiO2 (M = Au, Pt, Ag). In this method, the UV irradiation of TiO2 powder dispersed in absolute ethanol generates some Ti3+ ions on the surface of TiO2 particles and these Ti3+ ions, upon addition of a noble-metal salt in the dark, reduce the metal cations to deposit metal nanoparticles on the TiO2 surface. This Ti3+-ion-assisted synthesis leads to a homogeneous loading of noble-metal nanoparticles on the surface of TiO2 particles, which allows photocatalytic reactions to take place under visible-light on the whole TiO2 surface. Among the three photocatalysts M@TiO2 (M = Au, Pt, Ag), Au@TiO2 exhibits a high yield (63%) and selectivity (91%) for the oxidation of benzene to phenol in aqueous phenol. For this photocatalytic reaction, our study suggests a mechanism in which the visible-light absorption by the Au nanoparticles causes electron transfer from the Au nanoparticles to the TiO2 particle, and the electron-depleted Au oxidizes phenoxy anions to form phenoxy radicals that oxidize benzene to phenol.

TL;DR: In this paper, the implications of simultaneous equilibrium in three related markets: retail food, farm output, and marketing services were examined, and the implications for the viability of simple markup pricing rules and the determinants of the farmer's share of the food dollar were discussed.
Abstract: Consistency with market equilibrium places constraints on the pricing policies of food marketing firms in a competitive industry. This paper examines the implications of simultaneous equilibrium in three related markets: retail food, farm output, and marketing services. From equations representing the demand and supply sides of each market, elasticities are generated which show how the farm‐retail price spread changes when retail food demand, farm product supply, or the supply function of marketing services shifts. Implications for the viability of simple markup pricing rules and the determinants of the farmer's share of the food dollar are discussed.

TL;DR: Limited linkage disequilibrium was observed around some SNPs associated with SLB resistance, indicating that the maize NAM population enables high-resolution mapping of some genome regions.
Abstract: Nested association mapping (NAM) offers power to resolve complex, quantitative traits to their causal loci. The maize NAM population, consisting of 5,000 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) from 25 families representing the global diversity of maize, was evaluated for resistance to southern leaf blight (SLB) disease. Joint-linkage analysis identified 32 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) with predominantly small, additive effects on SLB resistance. Genome-wide association tests of maize HapMap SNPs were conducted by imputing founder SNP genotypes onto the NAM RILs. SNPs both within and outside of QTL intervals were associated with variation for SLB resistance. Many of these SNPs were within or near sequences homologous to genes previously shown to be involved in plant disease resistance. Limited linkage disequilibrium was observed around some SNPs associated with SLB resistance, indicating that the maize NAM population enables high-resolution mapping of some genome regions.

TL;DR: Fundamental concepts of color perception and measurement are first presented using vector-space notation and terminology in order to establish the background and lay down terminology.
Abstract: This paper surveys current technology and research in the area of digital color imaging. In order to establish the background and lay down terminology, fundamental concepts of color perception and measurement are first presented using vector-space notation and terminology. Present-day color recording and reproduction systems are reviewed along with the common mathematical models used for representing these devices. Algorithms for processing color images for display and communication are surveyed, and a forecast of research trends is attempted. An extensive bibliography is provided.

TL;DR: In this paper, base station cooperative processing is explored to address the CCI mitigation problem in downlink multicell multiuser MIMO networks, and is shown to dramatically increase the capacity with strong CCI.
Abstract: Recently, the remarkable capacity potential of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems was unveiled. The predicted enormous capacity gain of MIMO is nonetheless significantly limited by cochannel interference (CCI) in realistic cellular environments. The previously proposed advanced receiver technique improves the system performance at the cost of increased receiver complexity, and the achieved system capacity is still significantly away from the interference-free capacity upper bound, especially in environments with strong CCI. In this paper, base station cooperative processing is explored to address the CCI mitigation problem in downlink multicell multiuser MIMO networks, and is shown to dramatically increase the capacity with strong CCI. Both information-theoretic dirty paper coding approach and several more practical joint transmission schemes are studied with pooled and practical per-base power constraints, respectively. Besides the CCI mitigation potential, other advantages of cooperative processing including the power gain, channel rank/conditioning advantage, and macrodiversity protection are also addressed. The potential of our proposed joint transmission schemes is verified with both heuristic and realistic cellular MIMO settings.
