TL;DR: In this paper, the intermolecular distance, tilt angle, orientational distribution function and the orientational order parameters have been calculated for hexyl, octyl and decyl members of the homologous series bis-(4′-nalkoxybenzal)-2-chloro-1,4-phenylinediamine.
Abstract: The hexyl, octyl and decyl members of the homologous series bis-(4′-n-alkoxybenzal)-2-chloro-1,4-phenylinediamine have been studied by X-ray diffraction at different temperatures under various magnetic fields. The intermolecular distance the tilt angle, the orientational distribution function and the orientational order parameters have been calculated. The intermolecular distance, tilt angle and the ‘degree of ordering’ is found to depend on magnetic field strength. Order parameters 〈P 2〉 and 〈P 4〉 are found to be slightly lower for BHeCP, more or less equal for BOCP, and slightly higher for BDeCP than those predicted by mean field theory. 〈P 2〉 values for BHeCP snd BOCP agree well with the values obtained from refractive-index measurements, but for BDeCP our 〈P 2〉 values are higher.

TL;DR: Cytological and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analyses were carried out to assess the genetic integrity of the regenerated plantlets, suggesting genetic stability in the micropropagated plants of N. khasiana.
Abstract: An efficient in vitro protocol for large-scale multiplication of Nepenthes khasiana, a threatened insectivorous plant of India, has been developed from nodal stem segments. The highest shoot proliferation of 19.16 ± 0.23 shoots/explant was recorded in half-strength Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 2.5 mg/l kinetin, 2.0 mg/l 6-benzyl aminopurine, 3 % sucrose and 0.8 % agar. The best rooting was achieved in half-strength MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l α-naphthalene acetic acid with an average of 9.04 ± 0.46 roots/shoot. The plantlets were successfully transferred to the greenhouse with survival rate of 92 %, exhibiting normal development. Cytological and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analyses were carried out to assess the genetic integrity of the regenerated plantlets. Cytological analysis revealed no change in chromosome number with cells studied showing 2n = 80. Of the 80 primers screened for RAPD analysis, 14 primers resulted in clear and scorable bands. A total of 72 amplification products were obtained out of which only 4.1 % bands were polymorphic. Cluster analysis of the RAPD profile revealed an average similarity coefficient ranging from 0.98 to 1.0, thus suggesting genetic stability in the micropropagated plants of N. khasiana.

TL;DR: In this paper, the exact value of linewidths obtained after correcting for the slitwidth effect for five Raman bands associated with the core of a liquid crystalline compound, terepthal-bis-decyl aniline (TBDA), have been studied in the temperature range of 12-472 K.
Abstract: The precise value of linewidths obtained after correcting for the slitwidth effect for five Raman bands associated with the core of a liquid crystalline compound, terepthal-bis-decyl aniline (TBDA), have been studied in the temperature range of 12-472 K. The variation of the linewidth with temperature confirms two already reported phase transitions at 346 and 427 K. However, the phase transition at 427 K is not purely first order as reported earlier, but of mixed order in nature. From the measured linewidths of the N and CDN modes below room temperature, the estimated activation energy for rotation along the -N bond closely matches with the SI -SC phase transition temperature suggesting that the rotation about the -N bond is closely linked with this transition.

TL;DR: In sequence and phylogenetic analyses the COI gene turned out to be the most useful marker in identifying the gastrothylacid species, with the exception of Gastrothylax crumenifer, which showed a high degree of intraspecific variations among its isolates.

TL;DR: An efficient magnetically retrievable ferrite-supported glutathione nano-organocatalyst has been employed for the synthesis of a library of 2-amino-4H-pyran derivatives in aqueous media via a one-pot multicomponent reaction.
Abstract: An efficient magnetically retrievable ferrite-supported glutathione nano-organocatalyst has been employed for the synthesis of a library of 2-amino-4H-pyran derivatives in aqueous media via a one-pot multicomponent reaction. The highlight of this protocol lies in its operational simplicity, use of greener solvent, high yield within a very short period of time and reusability of the catalyst. This method provides an alternative greener approach for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-pyran derivatives.
