TL;DR: Results show that the proposed detection model outperforms other methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
Abstract: As one of the major factors of the nontechnical losses (NTLs) in distribution networks, the electricity theft causes significant harm to power grids, which influences power supply quality and reduces operating profits. In order to help utility companies solve the problems of inefficient electricity inspection and irregular power consumption, a novel hybrid convolutional neural network-random forest (CNN-RF) model for automatic electricity theft detection is presented in this paper. In this model, a convolutional neural network (CNN) firstly is designed to learn the features between different hours of the day and different days from massive and varying smart meter data by the operations of convolution and downsampling. In addition, a dropout layer is added to retard the risk of overfitting, and the backpropagation algorithm is applied to update network parameters in the training phase. And then, the random forest (RF) is trained based on the obtained features to detect whether the consumer steals electricity. To build the RF in the hybrid model, the grid search algorithm is adopted to determine optimal parameters. Finally, experiments are conducted based on real energy consumption data, and the results show that the proposed detection model outperforms other methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency.

TL;DR: A condition for global uniform exponential stability of the switched neutral system under an average dwell time (ADT) scheme is proposed and the corresponding solvability condition for the controller is established.
Abstract: This technical note concerns the stabilization problem for a class of switched linear neutral systems in which time delays appear in both the state and the state derivatives. In addition, the switching signal of the switched controller also involves time delays, which makes the switching between the controller and the system asynchronous. Based on a new integral inequality and the piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional technique, a condition for global uniform exponential stability of the switched neutral system under an average dwell time (ADT) scheme is proposed. Then, the corresponding solvability condition for the controller is established. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed theory.

TL;DR: The surface energy transfer between the amino-functionalized carbon dots and negatively charged hyaluronate stabilized gold nanoparticles is demonstrated.
Abstract: Amino-functionalized fluorescent carbon dots have been prepared by hydrothermal treatment of glucosamine with excess pyrophosphate. The produced carbon dots showed stabilized green emission fluorescence at various excitation wavelengths and pH environments. Herein, we demonstrate the surface energy transfer between the amino-functionalized carbon dots and negatively charged hyaluronate stabilized gold nanoparticles. Hyaluronidase can degrade hyaluronate and break down the hyaluronate stabilized gold nanoparticles to inhibit the surface energy transfer. The developed fluorescent carbon dot/gold nanoparticle system can be utilized as a biosensor for sensitive and selective detection of hyaluronidase by two modes which include fluorescence measurements and colorimetric analysis.

TL;DR: This brief elaborately analyzes these hardware security techniques and proposes a practical logic obfuscation method with low overheads to prevent an adversary from RE both the gate-level netlist and the layout-level geometry of IP/ IC and protect IP/IC from piracy and overbuilding.
Abstract: A number of studies of hardware security aim to thwart piracy, overbuilding, and reverse engineering (RE) by obfuscating and/or camouflaging. However, these techniques incur high overheads, and integrated circuit (IC) camouflaging cannot provide any protection for the gate-level netlist of the third party intellectual property (IP) core or the single large monolithic IC. In order to circumvent these weaknesses, this brief elaborately analyzes these hardware security techniques and proposes a practical logic obfuscation method with low overheads to prevent an adversary from RE both the gate-level netlist and the layout-level geometry of IP/IC and protect IP/IC from piracy and overbuilding. Experimental evaluations demonstrate the low area, power, and zero performance overhead of the proposed obfuscation technique.
