Abstract: An interactional model of stress that integrates current research on competitive affects and emphasizes the temporal dimensions of the stress process is forwarded. The literature reveals that the study of athletes' affective responses to competition has been narrowly focused on pre-competitive anxiety. Equivocal findings on temporal patterning of competitive anxiety suggest that a fundamental change in the empirical approach is needed because the current conceptualization of anxiety and other complex emotions is imprecise. The analysis of secondary emotions as patterns of discrete basic emotions, as suggested by differential emotions theorists, is proposed for consideration in future research. In this view, competitive anxiety is considered as a set of patterns of emotions rather than a unitary affect. The adoption of this approach could result in better operationalization of competitive anxiety as well as other secondary performance-related emotions. We propose that research on competitive affects should follow two parallel lines. The first should focus on the description of complex emotional states that reflect the idiosyncratic emotional experience and vocabulary of the athlete. The second should examine the sets of basic emotions experienced throughout competition, and focus on individual differences and factors determining those differences. The integration of the two approaches could lead to a better understanding of whether, how and why individuals differ in the interpretation of specific secondary emotions and their effect on performance. Moreover, it would permit the analysis of intra-individual variations in labelling secondary emotions with respect to different competitive contexts and temporal aspects.

Abstract: Background The umbrella term "Internet addiction" has been criticized for its lack of specificity given the heterogeneity of potentially problematic behaviors that can be engaged in online as well as different underlying etiological mechanisms. This has led to the naming of specific online addictions, the most notable being Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). Methods Using the contemporary literature concerning IGD and cognate topics, issues and concerns relating to the concept of IGD are examined. Results Internet addiction and IGD are not the same, and distinguishing between the two is conceptually meaningful. Similarly, the diagnosis of IGD as proposed in the appendix of the latest (fifth) edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) remains vague regarding whether or not games need to be engaged in online, stating that IGD typically involves specific Internet games, but can also include offline games, adding to the lack of clarity. A number of authors have voiced concerns regarding the viability of including the word "Internet" in IGD, and instead proposed to use the term "video gaming disorder" or simply "gaming disorder," suggesting addiction to video gaming can also occur offline. Conclusion The DSM-5 has caused more confusion than clarity regarding the disorder, reflected by researchers in the field contesting a supposedly reached consensus for IGD diagnosis.

Abstract: Visible light-mediated photocatalytic organic transformation has drawn significant attention as an alternative process for replacing thermal reactions. Although precious metal/organic dyes based homogeneous photocatalysts have been developed, their toxic and nonreusable nature makes them inappropriate for large-scale production. Therefore, we have synthesized a triazine and a keto functionalized nonmetal based covalent organic framework (TpTt) for heterogeneous photocatalysis. As the catalyst shows significant absorption of visible light, it has been applied for the photocatalytic uphill conversion of trans-stilbene to cis-stilbene in the presence of blue light-emitting diodes with broad substrate scope via an energy transfer process.

Abstract: Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is an electrophoretic technique that allows ionised analyte molecules to be separated on the basis of their mobilities in the gas phase. The technique has found widespread application as a detector, most noticeably for chemical warfare agents on the battlefield and for explosives and narcotics at ports and airports. The application of IMS to structural studies of small molecules has also been recognised since the advent of the technique in the 1970s. The coupling of IMS with electrospray (ESI) and MALDI ion sources has opened up exciting possibilities for the study of the conformations and structures of a wide range of biomolecules in the gas-phase, including proteins, peptides and oligonucletoides. This tutorial review discusses the principles, instrumentation and applications of IMS for the elucidation of molecular structural characteristics.
