TL;DR: The quantizer design is based on the information bottleneck method using the notion of relevant information as an optimization criterion and jointly compresses the soft information available for both sources at the relay.
Abstract: A network with two sources, one relay, and one destination is considered. Under the assumption of noisy source-relay links causing the relay to be unable to decode without error, we propose a quantizer design framework where the quantizer jointly compresses the soft information available for both sources at the relay. The quantizer design is based on the information bottleneck method using the notion of relevant information as an optimization criterion.

TL;DR: In this article, the first sub-group of transmission bits is mapped onto constellation points of a differential transmit diversity coding scheme from an orthogonal design for coding of the first group of transmission bit, and after differential encoding of the constellation points (32, 34, 36, 40) a length of the transmission symbol vector is scaled (38) for coding the second sub group.
Abstract: The present invention achieves differential transmit diversity and related diversity reception schemes transmit symbol constellations which are extended to multiple levels. Heretofore, a group of transmission bits is divided into a first sub-group of transmission bits and a second sub-group of transmission bits. Then, the first sub-group of transmission bits is mapped (14) onto constellation points of a differential transmit diversity coding scheme from an orthogonal design for coding of the first sub-group of transmission bits. Then, after differential encoding of the constellation points (32, 34, 36, 40) a length of the transmission symbol vector is scaled (38) for coding the second sub-group of transmission bits. Therefore, the present invention overcomes restrictions implied through unit length requirements for previously known differential transmit diversity schemes from orthogonal designs.

TL;DR: In this article, a pattern extraction unit extracts a region where an object is easily visually recognized when the object is overlaid and displayed in an image in real space, from the image from the real space based on information about the size and color of the object.
Abstract: In an object display device, a pattern extraction unit extracts a region where an object is easily visually recognized when the object is overlaid and displayed in an image in real space, from the image in real space, based on information about the size and color of the object and information about the color of the image in real space that are acquired by an image analysis unit, and a display position correction unit corrects the display position of the object to this region. This facilitates visual recognition of the object and enhances various effects, such as informativeness, brought about by the displaying of the object in the image in real space.

Abstract: A scramble code allocation method used by mobile communications systems, and a base station and a mobile station that use the method are disclosed. The scramble code allocation method autonomously and optimally sets up a scramble code unique to a target base station. The method includes a step of generating a collection packet for collecting unique information of surrounding base stations, the unique information being used for setting up respective identifiers of the surrounding base stations; a step of broadcasting the collection packet to the surrounding base stations through a network; a step of receiving response packets from the surrounding base stations in response to the collection packet; a step of extracting the unique information of the surrounding base stations inserted in the response packets that are received; a step of storing the extracted unique information; and a step of setting up an identifier of the target base station based on the stored unique information.
