Abstract: In this article, we examine the expectations of the economic outlook, fear of the future, and behavioural change during the first Covid-19 wave, for three European countries (Spain, the United Kingdom, and Italy) that have been severely hit. We use a novel dataset that we collected to monitor the three countries during the crisis. As outcome variables, we used expectations (e.g., economic outlook, labour market situation, recovery), fear (e.g., scenario of new outburst, economic depression, restriction to individual rights and freedom), and behavioural change across the following dimensions: savings, cultural consumption, social capital, and risky behaviour. We provide descriptive evidence that is representative of the population of interest, and we estimate the impact of exposure to shock occurred during the crisis on the same outcome variables, using matching techniques. Our main findings are the following: we detected systematically negative expectations regarding the future and the recovery, majoritarian fears of an economic depression, a new outbreak, and a permanent restriction on freedom, a reduction in saving and in social capital. Exposure to shocks decreased expected job prospects, increased withdrawal from accumulated savings, and reduced contacts with the network relevant to job advancement, whereas it had inconclusive effects over fears.

17 Jun 2005TL;DR: The approach followed in this paper to automatically check the integrity constraints defined in a UML conceptual schema uses only the standard elements of the conceptual schema to process the constraints, which can benefit any implementation of the schema regardless of the technology used.
Abstract: Integrity checking is aimed at efficiently determining whether the state of the information base is consistent after the application of a set of structural events. One possible way to achieve efficiency is to consider only the relevant instances that may violate an integrity constraint instead of the whole population of the information base. This is the approach we follow in this paper to automatically check the integrity constraints defined in a UML conceptual schema. Since the method we propose uses only the standard elements of the conceptual schema to process the constraints, its efficiency improvement can benefit any implementation of the schema regardless the technology used.

TL;DR: The case of the provincia de Alicante, un area sujeta a un fragil equilibrio hidrico en la costa mediterranea espanola, for explorar the percepcion ciudadana de distintas alternativas hidricas, con especial enfasis in the reutilizacion de aguas depuradas as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe, analyze, and formalize the critical responsibility parameters, as well as the variables that shape them, and the advantages and limitations of corporate social responsibility in order to define a management model for achieving responsibility among organizations.
Abstract: Companies are, in a broad sense, a group of different agents that have a relationship with shareholders, citizens, providers, and customers. In other words, they are known as stakeholders. Corporate social responsibility may help to establish clear boundaries among the different interests of the groups described above. In this paper, the authors will describe, analyze, and formalize the critical responsibility parameters, as well as the variables that shape them. Corporate social responsibility is proposed as a new management tool and not as a fashionable concept. Furthermore, the advantages and limitations of corporate social responsibility will be analyzed in order to define a management model for achieving responsibility among organizations. Finally, the model limitations are presented, both in the verbal and the mathematical formalizations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors link the tools of critical cartography and cognitive mapping with more traditional gentrification studies in order to capture in situ the shifts associated with nascent processes of change in bodies, environment, and minds in Vallcarca, a liminal gentrifying neighbourhood of Barcelona, Spain.
