TL;DR: In this paper, the intervalence band absorption (IVBA) coefficient k/sub 0/ in three types of active layer structure: bulk, unstrained (MQW) and strained multiquantum wells was measured by observing the spontaneous emission from the uncleaved facets of Fabry-Perot lasers.
Abstract: Measurements are reported of intervalence band absorption (IVBA) coefficient k/sub 0/ in three types of active layer structure: bulk, unstrained (MQW) and strained multiquantum wells. The IVBA measurements are performed by observing the spontaneous emission from the uncleaved facets of DCPBH Fabry-Perot lasers. k/sub 0/=(3.7+or-0.3)*10/sup -17/ cm/sup 2/ is obtained for bulk, (1.4+or-0.2)*10/sup -16/ cm/sup 2/ for MQW unstrained and (3.5+or-0.3)*10/sup -17/ cm/sup 2/ for strained MQW structures.

06 Jul 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a system for developing interactive applications transmitted through a network is described, consisting of an electronic editor (E) for simulating a display screen of a display monitor, and an interface controlling a control module associated with said display monitor.
Abstract: The invention concerns a system for developing interactive applications transmitted through a network. The system comprises, activated by the operation of a computer, an electronic editor (E) for simulating a display screen of a display monitor, and an interface controlling (MCS) a control module associated with said display monitor. A module generating virtual objects (GOV) specific to the application to be developed is provided, the virtual objects being selected at least among images in point mode, video files, textual files, capable of being edited, displayed, represented by the editor (E) for forming a scene of the pplication. A control module (COR) for correlating event/action pairs is provided, an event corresponding to the imbalance of the state of an operation system and an action corresponding to an initialization or a modification of the display or the representation of one or several scenes constituting the applications. The invention is useful for developing interactive applications, in particular on TV channel, Internet network or the like.

TL;DR: In this paper, a DAC with one-stage latches and a deglitching circuit has been introduced in the decoding stages to guarantee a low glitch energy, and the DAC dissipates 150 mW at a 130-MHz conversion rate while operating from a single 5V power supply.
Abstract: In order to achieve monotonicity and a high-speed performance, a current-cell matrix configuration and a parallel decoding circuit with one-stage latches have been used. A deglitching circuit has been introduced in the decoding stages to guarantee a low glitch energy. P-channel devices used as current sources ensure a low noise level and a ground-referenced voltage output in a doubly terminated 75- Omega transmission line. Experimental results have shown that the maximum conversion rate is 130 MHz and the integral and differential linearity errors are less than 0.5 LSB. The maximum glitch energy is 50 pS-V. The DAC has been developed in a 1- mu m digital/analog CMOS technology. The entire circuit dissipates 150 mW at a 130-MHz conversion rate while operating from a single 5-V power supply. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a multigrating method was proposed for a flattened spectral response using one-focal-point couplers and several interleaved monomode waveguide gratings.
Abstract: The authors successfully demonstrate a new method called a multigrating method, for a flattened spectral response. It uses one-focal-point couplers and several interleaved monomode waveguide gratings. It has a bandwidth of 0.94 nm at -1 db and of 1.8 nm at -20 dB. The loss penalty due to channel flattening is only 2.2 dB.

23 Dec 1992TL;DR: In this paper, a very-long-distance transmission of a digital signal between a transmitter station and a receiver station, where the transmitter and receiver stations are connected by a monomode optical fiber with negative chromatic dispersion at the operating wavelength of the system, having a length of at least one thousand kilometers.
Abstract: A system for very-long-distance transmission of a digital signal between a transmitter station and a receiver station, wherein the transmitter and receiver stations are connected by a monomode optical fiber with negative chromatic dispersion at the operating wavelength of the system, having a length of at least one thousand kilometers. The receiver station comprises device to compensate for the distortions due to the non-linear effects and to the chromatic dispersion introduced by the transmission line, the compensation device carrying out a positive chromatic dispersion of the received signal, the amplitude of the positive chromatic dispersion being a function notably of the amplitude of the negative chromatic dispersion induced by the optical fiber as well as of the mean on-line optical power of the signal transmitted on the optical fiber.
