TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper presented a system for automatically detecting and analyzing complex player actions in moving background sports video sequences, aiming at action-based sports videos indexing and providing kinematic measurements for coach assistance and performance improvement.
Abstract: This paper presents a system for automatically detecting and analyzing complex player actions in moving background sports video sequences, aiming at action-based sports videos indexing and providing kinematic measurements for coach assistance and performance improvement. The system works in a coarse-to-fine fashion. For an input video, in the coarse granularity level, we automatically segment the highlights, that is, the video clips containing the desired action as summaries for general user viewing purposes; in the middle granularity level, we recognize the action types to support action-based video indexing and retrieval; and finally in the fine granularity level, the critical kinematic parameters of player action are obtained for sports professionals' training purposes. However, the complex and dynamic background of sports videos and the complexity of player actions bring considerable difficulty to the automatic analysis. To fulfill such a challenging task, robust algorithms including global motion estimation with adaptive outliers filtering, object segmentation based on adaptive background construction, and automatic human body tracking are proposed in this paper. Two visual analyzing tools: motion panorama and overlay composition, are also introduced. Real diving and jump game videos are used to test the proposed system and algorithms, and the extensive and encouraging experimental results show their effectiveness.

TL;DR: In this article, a multicomponent competitive isotherm equation taking into account adsorbate-adsorbate interactions is derived using a statistical approach, assuming independence between the local configurations.
Abstract: A multicomponent competitive isotherm equation taking into account adsorbate-adsorbate interactions is derived using a statistical approach. The calculation assumes independence between the local configurations. The model is tested for single component adsorption. It describes satisfactorily the S-shaped isotherms observed for various gases and vapors (alkanes, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, rare gases) adsorbed on graphitized carbon black at temperatures higher than the two-dimensional critical temperature.

01 Oct 2009TL;DR: In this article, a simple architecture for a super-broadband 60 GHz photonic wireless system using a cascaded optical RF and data modulation approach, advanced photonic components and a high-spectral efficient QAM-OFDM modulation format was presented.
Abstract: In this paper, we present a simple architecture for a super-broadband 60 GHz photonic wireless system. Using a cascaded optical RF and data modulation approach, advanced photonic components and a high-spectral efficient QAM-OFDM modulation format, we realized a compact 60 GHz photonic wireless system having a spectral efficiency as large as 3.86 bit/s/Hz. By making use of the 7 GHz spectral bandwidth in the 60 GHz band which was opened up for unlicensed broadband wireless services worldwide, we achieved record data throughputs. For example, by using a 16-QAM OFDM subcarrier modulation, we experimentally demonstrate photonic wireless transmission of 27.04 Gbit/s with a mean EVM of 17.63%. Wireless experiments were carried out in a lab environment with a maximum transmit power of -1 dBm and 23 dBi gain antennas for a wireless span of 2.5 m. This can be extended to some 100 m span when using high-gain antennas and higher transmit power levels.
