TL;DR: New functionalized terphenyl derivatives incorporating various heterocyclic rings are prepared by using 4,4′′-difluoro-5′-hydroxy-1,1′:3′,1″′-terphenyl-4′-carbohydrazide as a key intermediate derived from 4, 4′-DIFluoro chalcone, a versatile synthone.
Abstract: New functionalized terphenyl derivatives incorporating various heterocyclic rings are prepared by using 4,4′′-difluoro-5′-hydroxy-1,1′:3′,1′′-terphenyl-4′-carbohydrazide as a key intermediate derived from 4,4′-difluoro chalcone, a versatile synthone. All the derivatives are characterized by 1H NMR, IR, and mass spectral data. All the synthesized products are screened for their in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The majority of the tested compounds exhibited significant antioxidant activity and some of them showed good antimicrobial activity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of silicon carbide (SiC) nanopowder in R134, a refrigerant used in a vapor compression refrigeration system, was examined and the results showed that the energy consumption of the R134a refrigerant with SiC nanoparticles mixture saves 20% energy with 0.25% mass fraction.
Abstract: This paper deals with the influence of silicon carbide (SiC) nanopowder in R134 a refrigerant used in a vapor compression refrigeration system. The performance study was done by mixing a SiC nanopowder in R134a refrigerant. The energy consumption of the R134a refrigerant with SiC nanoparticles mixture saves 20% energy with 0.25% mass fraction of SiC nanoparticles when compared to the R134a system. The COP of the refrigerant R134a system is 1.24 whereas COP for R134a-SiC nanopowder is 1.81. The SiC nanopowder is cryogenically treated at −196∘C for 24 h and the COP is found out. The results show that the COP of R134a-SiC nanopowder and R134a-cryo SiC (cryogenically treated silicon carbide nanopowder) is increased when compared to the R134a conventional refrigeration system.

TL;DR: Four methods together are used together to detect and finally confirm requests as a robot request and an integrated approach is proposed for the confirmation of the robot request.
Abstract: Web robots are software applications that run automated tasks over the internet. They traverse the hyperlink structure of the World Wide Web so that they can retrieve information. There are many reasons to distinguish web robot requests and user requests. Some tasks of web robots can be harmful to the web. Firstly, Web robots are employed for assemble business intelligence at e-commerce sites. In such a state of affairs, the e-commerce site may need to detect robots. Secondly, many e-commerce sites carry out Web traffic scrutiny to deduce the way their customers have accessed the site. Unfortunately, such scrutiny can be erroneous by the presence of Web robots. Thirdly, Web robots often consume considerable network bandwidth and server resources at the expense of other users. A web log file is a web server file automatically created and maintained by a web server to check the activity performed by it. It maintains a history of page requests on its site. In this paper we have used four methods together to detect and finally confirm requests as a robot request. Experiments have been performed on the log file generated from the server of an operational web site named vtulife.com which contains data of march-20l3. In our research results o.f web robot detection using various techniques have been compared and an integrated approach is proposed for the confirmation of the robot request.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the performance of different types of biodiesel and found that Pongamia pinnata biodiesel gave the highest brake thermal efficiency (BTE) among the biodiesels used.
Abstract: The biodiesel production from Pongamia pinnata, Calophyllum inophyllum, and waste cooking oil with different free fatty acid content was carried out by using different stages of transesterification process. Physical and chemical properties of biodiesel such as flash point, fire point, calorific value, density, and viscosity were found. Engine performance studies were carried out, with 100 % biodiesel being produced from different sources and with blends such as B50, B65, and B80 with diesel. In the comparison of biodiesels, it was found that Pongamia pinnata biodiesel showed highest Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE) among the biodiesels used. For the B65 blend, Pongamia pinnata biodiesel gives highest BTE. For B50 blend, Pongamia pinnata and Calophyllum inophyllum biodiesel provide highest BTE. When these blends were compared for a particular type of biodiesel, B50 shows better performance characteristics in all aspects for different biodiesels used and among the biodiesel blends used.

TL;DR: The comparison of signal-to-noise ratio of the filter outputs proves that the adaptive filter provides better performance and a parallel interleaved sample of direct form adaptive FIR filter architecture is implemented and low-power issues are addressed.
Abstract: This paper presents efficient low-power adaptive filter architecture for electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and epileptic seizure detection using recurrence quantification analysis (RQA). The preprocessing of EEG is done using notch, wavelet and adaptive filter. The comparison of signal-to-noise ratio of the filter outputs proves that the adaptive filter provides better performance and a parallel interleaved sample of direct form adaptive FIR filter architecture is implemented and low-power issues are addressed. An innovative compressor-based addition technique is utilized in the filter implementation to reduce the area and power consumption. The design is developed using Verilog HDL and mapped to 65-nm technological node. The power results are compared with conventional architecture of adaptive filter. The major advantage of choosing RQA is that it provides better information even for short non-stationary and nonlinear signals where other methods fail to provide good results. And it requires no conventions about data set size or dispersal of the data. The algorithm is applied on epileptic EEG signal from CHB-MIT database. The RQA measures are determined from the recurrence plot, its performance is measured in terms of sensitivity and specificity as 97.4 and 93.5 %, respectively, and leakage power is reduced to 10 %.
