TL;DR: In this article, the tone signal generated by one of the tone generators is passed through a frequency shifter, while the tone generated by the rest of the keyers is not, and then the two signals are mixed together and finally transduced into sound by a loudspeaker.
Abstract: In a keyboard electronic musical instrument having tone generators of frequency divider systems, every key is associated with and controls a plurality of tone keyers which respectively gate tone signals having frequencies being harmonically related with each other. The tone signal gated by one of the keyers is passed through a frequency shifter, while the tone signal gated by the rest of the keyers is not. Among the tone keyers, the above-mentioned one is a keyer for producing an attack signal, while the remainder are keyers for producing a normal lasting signal. Both signals, now being slightly out of harmonic relation, are mixed together and finally transduced into sound by a loudspeaker. The produced sound has subtly fine musical results with a sense of many different tone sources as in an individual--oscillator system instrument.

TL;DR: In this paper, the end faces of two or more optical waveguides (23 to 29) are connected on one end face of a focussing rod lens (20) and a reflection means (21) having a reflection plane tilted with a specified angle (α) to the normal plane to the lens axis is disposed behind the other end face.
Abstract: Respective end faces of two or more optical waveguides (23 to 29) are connected on one end face of a focussing rod lens (20) and a reflection means (21) having a reflection plane tilted with a specified angle (α) to the normal plane to the lens axis is disposed behind the other end face of the focussing rod lens (20) and angle of reflection plane of the reflection means (21) is varied by rotating the reflection means (21) around the lens axis (203) or by means of a piezo-electric driving device (30), thereby attaining selective switching of the waveguides (from 23 to selected one of 24 or 29) or varying the amount of rays to be transmitted through the waveguides (23 and 24 of FIG. 4), or thereby modulating the rays. By utilizing a semitransparent filter forming another tilted reflection plane, the amount of attenuation for different wavelength or connection of the waveguides are controlled separately.

Abstract: An electrically heated hair curling iron includes a sheet-shaped heater with electrodes affixed to an electrically resistive layer, wrapped around an elongated cylindrical support, and capable of being rapidly heated and maintained hot by electric current available from a rechargeable storage battery. The resistive layer has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance so that its temperature is self limiting. The storage battery is contained in a handle attached to the cylindrical support, and a battery charger is disclosed which comes into electrical contact with the battery when the handle is inserted in a cavity located in the battery charger. An elongated longitudinal clip is used to retain the hair in contact with the heater; a removable cap protects the heater and clip when the iron is not in use, and also engages a switch which ensures that the iron does not remain on. The charger and the curling iron are each provided with an LED to indicate operation of the charger and state of charge of the battery, respectively.

TL;DR: In this article, a photoelectric conversion device such as a solar cell in which electrodes formed from a conductive paste make ohmic contact with the surfaces of impurity diffused layers respectively formed in a semiconductor substrate.
Abstract: A photoelectric conversion device such as a solar cell in which electrodes formed from a conductive paste make ohmic contact with the surfaces of impurity diffused layers respectively formed in a semiconductor substrate. The conductive paste contains ultrafine particles of silver and gold as its principal solid components. The conductive paste further contains, as its additional principal solid components, ultrafine particles of a metal having a eutectic temperature lower than that of silver when alloyed with the semiconductor and a powdery glass material not containing any lead oxide glass component. The electrodes provided by the conductive paste exhibit excellent electrical properties when the conductive paste is subjected to firing treatment at a temperature of about 600° C. Thus, when, for example, the semiconductor substrate is of n-type silicon and a p + -type diffused layer is formed in one of its major surfaces to form a p + /n junction of relatively small depth, the electrode making ohmic contact with the p + -type diffused layer does not penetrate through the p + /n junction and has a low contact resistance. The photoelectric conversion device such as the solar cell thus obtained can operate with a higher conversion efficiency than hitherto and can be manufactured at a lower cost than hitherto.

Abstract: A theoretical analysis of the power spectra of diffusers with a series of pseudorandom phase sequences is presented. General equations describing three typical cases of power spectra are derived by making use of the constraints assumed. Profiles of the power spectra showed good agreement with the results of numerical computation using the fast-Fourier-transform algorithm. The images of the diffusers through a double-diffraction optical system were also evaluated by computer simulation. The advantage of pseudorandom phase sequences over random phase sequences is discussed from the viewpoint of signal-to-noise ratio.

Abstract: A SiC thin-film thermistor for high-temperature use has been developed by using rf-sputtered SiC thin films. This thermistor can be used for industrial and consumer use within an operating temperature range of -100 to 450 degrees C. By using SiC thin films, the thermistor maintains high electrical stability. The resistance change is less than 3% after exposure to heat at 400 degrees C for 2000 h. In addition, the film growth technique made possible the production of a high-accuracy thermistor, i.e., thermistor coefficient < +/-0.5%, thermistor resistance < +/-1.5%.

Abstract: A cooking device with one cooking or heating chamber in which food may be heated by either one or both of high-frequency heating means and the resistance heating means. The high-frequency or microwave energy is radiated into the heating chamber from the top while the air heated to high temperatures by the resistance heating means disposed within a rear chamber defined back of the rear wall of the heating chamber is circulated therethrough by a circulation fan. Food charges are placed on a receptacle which in turn is placed on a turntable, whereby the food charges may be uniformly heated. TL;DR: In this article, a temperature sensor and a reference temperature setting device are provided for each room for transmitting corresponding temperature data to a central control unit, and a control signal for closing the valve to divert a certain amount of the total supply energy to other rooms is generated.
Abstract: An air conditioning system comprises an outdoor unit and a plurality of indoor units, a plurality of delivery conduits for supplying working fluid from a variable capacity energy source located in the outdoor unit to the indoor units, and a plurality of control valves respectively provided in the delivery conduits. A temperature sensor and a reference temperature setting device are provided for each room for transmitting corresponding temperature data to a central control unit. The central control unit detects whether the sensed temperature of each room is increasing or decreasing as a function of time and whether the sensed temperature is above or below a predetermined temperature associated with a value established by the reference setting device. Based upon these data the central control unit provides a control signal for closing the valve to divert a certain amount of the total supply energy to other rooms. Another control signal is generated to increase the total amount of supply energy when the temperature level and its gradient of each room indicate a shortage of the total supply energy and to decrease the total amount when a total energy supply excess is indicated.
