TL;DR: In this article, an image transmission system capable of reducing the traffic on the transmission path and realizing various types of presentation is provided. But the system is not suitable for multimedia applications.
Abstract: There is provided an image transmission system capable of reducing the traffic on the transmission path and realizing various types of presentation. A PC (500) includes a display screen generation unit (502) for generating a display screen, a layer capture unit (503) for dividing the layers constituting the display screen into layers to be transmitted to a projector (600) and layers not to be transmitted and capturing the layers to be transmitted, a transmission layer adjustment unit (507) for adjusting the captured layers, and a PC communication unit (504) for transmitting the adjusted layers to the projector (600). The projector (600) has a projector communication unit (601) for receiving the transmission layers, an output layer adjustment unit (603) for judging the content of adjustment applied to the reception layer and performing re-adjustment on the reception layer according to the judgment result, and a display output unit (602) for projecting the reception layer onto the screen.

TL;DR: Results confirm that corrective training can improve on the recognition rate achieved by maximum-likelihood training, however, the algorithm is sensitive to selection of parameters.
Abstract: Corrective training is a recently proposed method of improving hidden Markov model parameters. Corrective training and related algorithms are applied to the domain of small-vocabulary, speaker-independent recognition. The contribution of each parameter of the algorithm is examined. Results confirm that corrective training can improve on the recognition rate achieved by maximum-likelihood training. However, the algorithm is sensitive to selection of parameters. A heuristic quantity is proposed to monitor the progress of the corrective training algorithm, and this quantity is used to adapt a parameter of corrective training. An alternative training algorithm is discussed and compared to corrective training. It yielded open test recognition rates comparable to those of maximum-likelihood training, but inferior to those of corrective training. >

TL;DR: In this article, a sensor signal input circuit with a memory for storing the video data and a thinning circuit for storing video data is used to thrain the memory in response to sensor signals.
Abstract: Monitor camera units, a data storing unit, a control server, a monitor display are coupled by a network. The monitor camera unit includes a motion detector for detects a motion from video data, a microphone, a traffic monitor, a memory for storing the video data, a sensor signal input circuit. The traffic monitor monitors the traffic of the network. If the traffic is high, only necessary data or sound data is transmitted. The memory stores the video data in response to the motion detector and a thinning circuit thins the video data from the memory in response to a sensor signal. The control server receives the alarm data from the monitor camera and further receives the alarm type data, time data, position data of a pivoting unit for pivoting the camera unit and transmits the data to the display terminal. In the presence of a loud sound, alarm data is also generated but it is not sent if a switch is OFF. The control server includes a data base storing set of alarm data. If an operator judges one set of alarm data is an error, the set of data is not erased but mark data is correspondingly stored to inhibit searching the set of data. During the night, the exposure and transmitting intervals are increased to prevent the same data from being transmitted twice.

TL;DR: In this paper, a substrate of a light emitting diode is constructed on a sapphire substrate, a buffer layer of undoped GaN and a compound semiconductor crystal layer successively formed on the substrate.
Abstract: A sapphire substrate, a buffer layer of undoped GaN and a compound semiconductor crystal layer successively formed on the sapphire substrate together form a substrate of a light emitting diode. A first cladding layer of n-type GaN, an active layer of undoped In 0.2 Ga 0.8 N and a second cladding layer successively formed on the compound semiconductor crystal layer together form a device structure of the light emitting diode. On the second cladding layer, a p-type electrode is formed, and on the first cladding layer, an n-type electrode is formed. In a part of the sapphire substrate opposing the p-type electrode, a recess having a trapezoidal section is formed, so that the thickness of an upper portion of the sapphire substrate above the recess can be substantially equal to or smaller than the thickness of the compound semiconductor crystal layer.

TL;DR: An optical disk for recording stereoscopic videos and high-quality video signals and a system for reproducing the videos and signals from the optical disk are made compatible with the conventional video reproducing system as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An optical disk for recording stereoscopic videos and high-quality video signals and a system for reproducing the videos and signals from the optical disk are made compatible with the conventional video reproducing system. A reproducing device which is used for reproducing stereoscopic videos and high-quality videos obtains stereoscopic video or high-quality videos by reproducing both first and second interleaved blocks on the optical disk in which first and second video signals are alternately recorded on the left and right sides by dividing the first and second video signals into frame groups of one GOP or more and a reproducing device which is not used for reproducing the stereoscopic videos and high-quality videos obtains ordinary videos by only reproducing either the first or second interleaved block by jumping tracks.
