TL;DR: Based on the measured helical parameters of the L and R lattices and the switching model, the twist and curvature calculated for the ten possible supercoils are in quantitative accord with observed supercoiled forms of flagellar filaments.

17 Sep 1998TL;DR: In this paper, the first video segments are positioned in the data area in the reproduction order of the first and second video segments, respectively, and the second video segment is positioned in a data area independently of the reproduction ordering of the second and third video segments.
Abstract: An optical disc includes a data area for recording a plurality of video segments and an index area for recording original type chain information and user-defined type chain information. The original type chain information defines an original type chain including first ones of the video segments by describing a reproduction order of the first video segments. The user-defined type chain information defines a user-defined type chain including second ones of the video segments by describing a reproduction order of the second video segments. The first video segments are positioned in the data area in the reproduction order of the first video segments whereas the second video segments are positioned in the data area independently of the reproduction order of the second video segments.

15 Oct 1997TL;DR: In this article, a communication system for a wireless bar code reader includes a wireless BS reader transmitter for reading bar code information and transmitting a radio signal, and a receiver for receiving the radio signal from the WBCR transmitter and transmitting reception data to a host computer, wherein the receiver includes a reception indication section for indicating that the reception data is received.
Abstract: A communication system for a wireless bar code reader includes a wireless bar code reader transmitter for reading bar code information and transmitting a radio signal, and a receiver for receiving the radio signal from the wireless bar code reader transmitter and transmitting reception data to a host computer, wherein the receiver includes a reception indication section for indicating that the reception data is received. Accordingly, it is possible to notify an operator that the data has been transmitted normally and further to urge the operator to retransmit the data when the data has not been transmitted normally.

TL;DR: In this paper, the d31 coefficient of a number of sputtered lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films with thicknesses between 0.6 and 3 μm was analyzed.
Abstract: The wafer flexure technique was used to characterize the d31 coefficient of a number of sol–gel and radio frequency (rf) sputtered lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films with thicknesses between 0.6 and 3 μm. Typical d31 values for well-poled 52/48 sol–gel films were found to be between −50 and −60 pC/N. The rf sputtered films possessed large as-deposited polarizations which produced d31 coefficients on the order of −70 pC/N in some unpoled films. The subsequent poling of the material, in a direction parallel to the preferred direction increased the d31 coefficient to values of about −85 pC/N. The aging behavior of the d31 coefficient was also investigated. For sol–gel films the aging rate was found to be independent of poling direction and to range from 4% per decade for a 2.5 μm film to 8% per decade for a 0.6 μm film. In contrast, the aging rate of sputtered films was strongly dependent on poling direction, with maximum and minimum rates of 26% and 2% per decade recorded. These aging rates are very h...

31 Mar 1989TL;DR: In this paper, a lithium secondary cell excellent in a charge/discharge cycle life characteristic is obtained by using cobalt acid lithium and titanium acid lithium in a positive electrode active material.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a lithium secondary excellent in charging/discharging cycle life battery by using cobalt acid lithium in a positive electrode active material and titanium acid lithium in a negative electrode active material, and also setting weight ratio of the titanium acid lithium relating to the cobalt acid lithium to a specific range value. CONSTITUTION:Cobalt acid lithium and titanium acid lithium are gathered, for instance, by each 88 pts.wt. and kneaded respectively by adding 4 pts.wt. carbon black, which is a conductive material, and 8 pts.wt. fluororesin which is a binder, next to pressure mold each kneaded object in a pellet shape dewatering processed by 200 deg.C high temperature drying, and an obtained object is used respectively as positive/negative electrodes 4, 5. In an electrolyte, in a solvent mixing propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate and 1, 2- dimethoxyethane, for instance, by 1:1:2 volume ratio, as a solute, phosphoric acid lithium hexafluoride is fused by 1mol/liter concentration, to impregnate a positive electrode, negative electrode and a separator. In this way, a lithium secondary cell excellent in a charge/discharge cycle life characteristic is obtained.
