TL;DR: In this article, a hydrodynamic bearing device is provided for use with a spindle motor, which has a sleeve made of a sintered metal that is obtained by sintering a Sintering material that is iron, an iron alloy, copper, a copper alloy or a mixture thereof.
Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing device is provided for use with a spindle motor. The hydrodynamic bearing device has a sleeve made of a sintered metal that is obtained by sintering a sintering material that is iron, an iron alloy, copper, a copper alloy or a mixture thereof. This sintered metal has independent pores, which do not communicate with each other, by selecting conditions for forming a desired sintered body within a predetermined range. The conditions includes a grain size of powdered metal of a material for the sintered metal, a molding pressure when the molded body is formed, sintering temperature and sintering period in the sintering step.

TL;DR: In this article, a speech dialogue processor is used to disambiguate phrases uttered by the driver in order to issue informative responses or control vehicular functions based on queries automatically generated based on the disambigated phrases.
Abstract: Sensors within the vehicle monitor driver movement, such as face and head movement to ascertain the direction a driver is looking, and gestural movement to ascertain what the driver may be pointing at. This information is combined with video camera data taken of the external vehicle surroundings. The apparatus uses these data to assist the speech dialogue processor to disambiguate phrases uttered by the driver. The apparatus can issue informative responses or control vehicular functions based on queries automatically generated based on the disambiguated phrases.

TL;DR: In this article, a terminal apparatus is provided for displaying an image by reproducing a piece of image information and for interactively changing the image using navigation information, where the image is a moving picture, a still picture, or a mixture of them.
Abstract: A terminal apparatus is provided for displaying an image by reproducing a piece of image information and for interactively changing the image using navigation information. The image is a moving picture, a still picture, or a mixture of them. The image information and the navigation information together are broadcast by a broadcasting station to the terminal apparatus. The navigation information indicates a plurality pieces of link-target image information. The cache unit stores a pair of image information and navigation information. The reproducing unit reproduces the image information. The monitoring unit monitors whether an operator has performed a certain operation responding to the image displayed. The receiving unit, before the operator performs the certain operation, receives a plurality pieces of image information which have possibility of being displayed and a plurality pieces of corresponding navigation information based on the navigation information, and stores the plurality pieces of image information and navigation information in the cache unit. The specifying unit specifies a piece of link-target image information based on the certain operation. The identifying unit identifies the piece of link-target image information as a piece of image information.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an information writing and reading apparatus for recording data on a recording disk with a plurality of rewritable sectors for storing normal data and a plurality for storing defect management data repeatedly in the plurality of DMAs (Defect Management Areas).
Abstract: An information writing and reading apparatus for writing and reading data on a recording disk has a plurality of rewritable sectors for storing normal data and a plurality of DMA sectors for storing defect management data repeatedly in a plurality of DMAs (Defect Management Areas). The information writing and reading apparatus includes DMA register for storing condition data representing the condition of the DMA sectors, erasing device for erasing data in the recording disk by a sector, and a controller for controlling such that after one DMA sector is erased by the erasing device, a condition of the DMA sector is examined whether it is a defectless sector or a defect sector, and a flag representing the examined result is stored in the DMA register.
