TL;DR: In this article, transient absorption spectra were measured to investigate the nonlinear response of a gold nanoparticle system by femtosecond pump-probe method and the temporal changes of electron temperatures and effective damping constants were obtained by fitting transient spectra with Mie scattering theory.
Abstract: Transient absorption spectra were measured to investigate the nonlinear response of a gold nanoparticle system by the femtosecond pump-probe method We obtained temporal changes of electron temperatures and effective damping constants by fitting transient absorption spectra with Mie scattering theory In the ultrafast region, the nonlinear response originates mainly from the hot electron system which is heated by the incident pump pulse It is noteworthy that the lattice temperature plays an important role even in the first step of the nonlinear response through the change of the effective damping constant In the long-time-scale region, over 10 ps, both the electron and the lattice temperatures contribute to the nonlinear response comparably The origin of the effective damping constant is also discussed with the surface scattering and the $e\ensuremath{-}p$scattering processes

TL;DR: In this article, the electronic conduction through a semiconducting thin film is investigated by measurements using dc and pulsed biases, and the observed conduction characteristics exhibit the space-charge-limited current effect, and can be ascribed to a carrier trapping and detrapping of the trap sites in the manganite.
Abstract: The electronic conduction through a ${\mathrm{Pr}}_{0.7}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{0.3}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ thin film is investigated by measurements using dc and pulsed biases. Semiconducting ${\mathrm{Pr}}_{0.7}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{0.3}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ films sandwiched by electrodes show both hysteretic and asymmetric behaviors in current-voltage characteristics. The observed conduction characteristics exhibit the space-charge-limited-current effect, and the hysteretic behavior can be ascribed to a carrier trapping and detrapping of the trap sites in the manganite. The hysteresis induces a colossal electroresistance (CER) of more than 5000% at room temperature. The CER ratio is independent of the duration time of pulses from an infinite (dc) down to $150\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{ns}$, indicating that the carrier filling of all the traps can be completed within a short time.

19 Jun 1986TL;DR: In this article, an inexpensive simply-operated biosensors of the disposable type can be provided, where an insulative base, an electrode system formed on the substrate and primarily made of carbon, and a perforated body having an enzyme and an electron acceptor and integrally combined with the electrode system whereby a concentration of a specific component in a biological liquid sample can be electrochemically measured rapidly and accurately by a simple procedure of mere addition of the liquid sample.
Abstract: This invention relates to a biosensor which comprises an insulative base, an electrode system formed on the substrate and primarily made of carbon, and a perforated body having an enzyme and an electron acceptor and integrally combined with the electrode system whereby a concentration of a specific component in a biological liquid sample can be electrochemically measured rapidly and accurately by a simple procedure of mere addition of the liquid sample. Several simple biosensors for measuring a specific component in a liquid sample are known including a sensor of the type in which a change of a dye formed by an enzyme reaction is optically detected and a sensor of the type using an enzyme electrode. These sensors, respectively, involve an interference with colored matters in liquid sample and necessity of washing of an electrode system every measuring procedure. In addition, the sensors are complicated in structure and materials therefor are expensive. In the present invention, the electrode system is formed mainly of carbon and is integrally combined with the perforated body, so that washing of the electrode system is unnecessary. Thus, an inexpensive, simply-operated biosensor of the disposable type can be provided.

14 May 2004TL;DR: In this paper, a door switch for a microwave oven with two switches is presented, whose contact portions are switched by elastically displacing a conductive contact piece in the switch case when a first tilting lever is tilted, at timing that is slightly different from the timing for switching the contact portions of the first switch.
Abstract: In fabricating a door switch for a microwave oven, two switches are incorporated in a single switch case to allow a reduction in the size and to allow common use of switch components, thereby achieving a cost reduction through a reduction in the number of components. Further, a contact switching structure tilted in conjunction with opening and closing of a door is provided to achieve high accuracy in switching the switches. There is provided a first switch whose contact portions are switched by elastically displacing a conductive contact piece in the switch case when a first tilting lever is tilted, a second switch whose contact portions are switched by elastically displacing another conductive contact piece in the switch case at timing that is slightly different from the timing for switching the contact portions of the first switch, and a third switch which is switched when a second tilting lever is tilted.
