TL;DR: In this article, a new speaker provides speech from which comparison snippets are extracted, and a greedy selection algorithm is performed with the required sound units for identifying the smallest subset of the input text that contains all the text for the new speaker to read.
Abstract: A new speaker provides speech from which comparison snippets are extracted. The comparison snippets are compared with initial snippets stored in a recorded snippet database that is associated with a concatenative synthesizer. The comparison of the snippets to the initial snippets produces required sound units. A greedy selection algorithm is performed with the required sound units for identifying the smallest subset of the input text that contains all of the text for the new speaker to read. The new speaker then reads the optimally selected text and sound units are extracted from the human speech such that the recorded snippet database is modified and the speech synthesized adopts the voice quality and characteristics of the new speaker.

TL;DR: In this paper, an adaptive sound source vector quantization (SAVQ) device was proposed to perform pitch cycle search with a resolution appropriate for any section of the search range of a second sub-frame.
Abstract: Provided is an adaptive sound source vector quantization device which can always perform a pitch cycle search with a resolution appropriate for any section of the pitch cycle search range of a second sub-frame when a pitch cycle search range of the second sub-frame changes in accordance with a pitch cycle of a first sub-frame. The device includes a first pitch cycle instruction unit (111), a search range calculation unit (112), and a second pitch cycle instruction unit (113). The first pitch cycle instruction unit (111) successively instructs pitch cycle search candidates in a predetermined search range having a search resolution which transits over a predetermined pitch cycle candidate for the first sub-frame. The search range calculation unit (112) calculates a predetermined range before and after the pitch cycle of the first sub-frame as the pitch cycle search range for the second sub-frame, if the predetermined range includes the predetermined pitch cycle search candidate. In the predetermined range, the search resolution transits over a boundary defined by the predetermined pitch cycle. The second pitch cycle instruction unit (113) successively instructs the pitch cycle search candidates in the search range for the second sub-frame.

11 Nov 1999TL;DR: In this article, a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes forming a first substrate including first display regions, forming a second substrate including second display regions and forming seal members of a loop shape around the first or second displays regions.
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes forming a first substrate including first display regions, forming a second substrate including second display regions, forming seal members of a loop shape around the first or second display regions, dropping a liquid crystal material onto the first or second display regions surrounded by the seal members, and bonding the first and second substrates to each other by the seal members such that the first display regions oppose the second display regions In the dropping, a greater amount of liquid crystal material is dropped onto display regions close to ends of the first or second substrate, than onto display regions close to a center of the first or second substrate

03 Aug 2004TL;DR: An LED illumination light source comprising a substrate, a group of a plurality of LED elements arranged two-dimensionally on the substrate, and phosphor resin parts (13a, 13b) covering the plurality of LEDs respectively is described in this paper.
Abstract: An LED illumination light source comprising a substrate (11), a group of a plurality of LED elements arranged two-dimensionally on the substrate (11), and phosphor resin parts (13a, 13b) covering the plurality of LED elements respectively. Respective phosphor resin parts (13a, 13b) have a phosphor for converting a light emitted from the LED element into a light having a longer wavelength. The phosphor resin parts (13b) covering respective LED elements located in the outer circumferential region of the group are larger in size than the phosphor resin parts (13a) covering respective LED elements located in the region other than the outer circumferential region.

12 Sep 2008TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a personal user control device suitable for use in cooperation with information systems such as vehicle information systems, and methods for manufacturing and using same, which includes no dedicated buttons and provides a customizable environment for interacting with the information system.
Abstract: A personal user control device suitable for use in cooperation with information systems, such as vehicle information systems, and methods for manufacturing and using same. The personal user control device provides a user-friendly interface system for interacting with the information system. Unlike conventional control devices, the user interface system includes no dedicated buttons and provides a customizable environment for interacting with the information system. When in communication with the information system, the personal user control device can automatically detect system status information, such as available system functionality, available viewing content, and/or a current system operation mode, of the information system and provides a user interface system that instinctively adapts for use with the information system in light of the detected system status information. The personal user control device thereby provides a versatile and intuitive manner for interacting with the information system.
