TL;DR: In this article , the authors propose a definition of webinars and analyse their specific interactive regime, as enacted via multiple technical devices and initiated via a contract of engagement which is realised by discursive and linguistic means.
Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a swift and quasi-compulsory switch from in-person to online communication in most areas of our lives, be it professional, social or personal. It particularly engendered upheaval within the field of specialised, spoken professional genres. Alongside dialogic (that is, interactive) formats such as online meetings, conference calls and online job interviews, webinars – of which the very name underlines their digital raison d’être – present an interesting example of a novel, inherently interactive format. Indicative of the horizontal knowledge sharing that characterises web 2.0 and the “new knowledge economy”, they display a number of linguistic features which inform late capitalist society. While they are closely linked to the corporate world, webinars have been adopted by a vast array of actors in the professional sphere, serve a number of purposes and can, hence, qualify as a “hypergenre”. This chapter provides an overview of some discursive and cognitive issues raised by digitalised spoken communication, before turning to the case of webinars. It proposes a definition of webinars and analyses their specific interactive regime, as enacted via multiple technical devices and initiated via a contract of engagement which is realised by discursive and linguistic means.

TL;DR: In this article , a symptomatic formula, like an ethical opening, oddly inserted in a psycho-biological discourse: "the organism wants to die in its own way" is presented.
Abstract: Discussions around the meaning and validity of Freud’s notion of Todestrieb (the “death-drive” or “death-instinct”), as it was introduced in the essay from 1920 Beyond the Pleasure Principle, later inscribed in the center of the so-called “Second Topography” of the unconscious, and finally applied to an interpretation of the “discontent” of our civilization, are proliferating. Either they concentrate on the clinical genealogy and the articulation with the remaining factors of the psychic conflict, or they disseminate towards a metaphysics of life and death, coupled with an analysis of the destructive element of culture. This essay tries a different and complementary approach: while elucidating as precisely as possible how the hypothesis relates to the moment of war (1914–18) in which it is “invented,” we seek an understanding of the political and existential elements intrinsic to the theory. In following this thread, we find the necessity of singling out a symptomatic formula, which is like an ethical opening, oddly inserted in a psycho-biological discourse: “the organism wants to die in its own way.” Its remarkable similitude to and difference from a verse in Rilke’s poem The Book of Poverty and Death (1903) provides a hypothetic clue.

TL;DR: This article investigated the extent to which trainees' perceptions about previous training experiences determine their decision to re-enrol in future multimodal training programs and developed a post-training reaction instrument adapted to multiple training modalities.
Abstract: This study investigated the extent to which trainees’ perceptions about previous training experiences determine their decision to re-enrol in future multimodal training programmes. A post-training reaction instrument adapted to multiple training modalities was developed. The results showed that trainees’ perceptions of the training design and utility for professional activities had an impact on their intention to attend training, which in turn affected the decision to re-enrol in English as a foreign language training programme measured four months later. Trainees less satisfied with their training experience also considered it less useful to reach their goals and were less likely to re-enrol in future programmes on the same topic. Nevertheless, the level of pre-training motivation to learn and task self-efficacy should be monitored, as they can strongly affect perceived training usefulness. Practical and research implications are proposed in the discussion.

TL;DR: In this paper , a method for the efficient and stable genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens -mediated transformation, somatic embryo induction, and regeneration of E. californica is presented.
Abstract: Abstract California poppy ( Eschscholzia californica ) is a member of the Ranunculales, the sister order to all other eudicots and as such in a phylogenetically highly informative position. Ranunculales are known for their diverse floral morphologies and biosynthesis of many pharmaceutically relevant alkaloids. E. californica it is widely used as model system to study the conservation of flower developmental control genes. However, within the Ranunculales, options for stable genetic manipulations are rare and genetic model systems are thus difficult to establish. Here, we present a method for the efficient and stable genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens -mediated transformation, somatic embryo induction, and regeneration of E. californica. Further, we provide a rapid method for protoplast isolation and transformation. This allows the study of gene functions in a single-cell and full plant context to enable gene function analysis and modification of alkaloid biosynthesis pathways by e.g., genome editing techniques providing important resources for the genetic model organism E. californica.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors use the French system as a starting point and compare it with elements describing other school systems, showing how geographical approaches can contribute to an understanding of educational inequalities.
Abstract: Educational inequalities can be understood as a specific type of social inequality, in that they involve institutional systems that play a crucial role in the construction of social trajectories. Using the French system as a starting point and comparing it with elements describing other school systems, this chapter shows how geographical approaches can contribute to an understanding of educational inequalities. By analogy with urban segregation, work on “school segregation” focuses on the unequal distribution of students in schools. School segregation can be read as an accentuated reflection of residential segregation, especially in collèges, and it is particularly strong in the private sector. An understanding of the mechanisms of production of school segregation allows one to reflect on the spatial dimension of school policies as well as on the construction of the trajectories of agents, students and staff in this hierarchical school space.

TL;DR: In this article , it was shown that experience of memory is not only the consequence of the activation of a precise content, but also results from an inference associated with the manner in which the process was carried out, in addition to the transfer of the process itself.
Abstract: Abstract In the field of memory, it is now admitted that an experience of memory is not only the consequence of the activation of a precise content, but also results from an inference associated with the transfer of the manner in which the process was carried out (i.e., fluency) in addition to the transfer of the process itself. The aim of this work was to show that experience of memory is also associated with the fluency that is due to the transfer of a processing carried out in our interactions with our past environment. Firstly, participants performed a perceptual discrimination task (geometric shapes: circle or square) that involves a fluent or a non-fluent gesture to respond. Motor fluency vs. non-fluency was implicitly associated with the colour of the geometric shapes. Secondly, participants had to perform a classical memory recognition task. During the recognition phase, items appeared either with the colour associated with motor fluency or with the colour associated with motor non-fluency. We used a Go-NoGo task to avoid having a confused factor (response space). Results show that items were better recognised with a colour associated with motor fluency than with a colour associated with non-motor fluency. These findings support the idea that an experience of memory is also associated with the transfer of the motor feeling of fluency linked to our interaction with the environment.
