TL;DR: In this paper, an innovative method to produce omnidirectional OAM beams based on spatial transformation is proposed at microwave frequencies for potential applications in wireless communications, which can be potentially implemented with an all-dielectric medium showing a gradient permittivity distribution.
Abstract: Vortex electromagnetic waves carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) have been widely discussed for potential applications in wireless communications. Belonging to the Laguerre–Gaussian beams family, such type of waves present a hollow conical shape and divergence characteristics along with a directional radiation. In this paper, an innovative method to produce omnidirectional OAM beams based on spatial transformation is proposed at microwave frequencies. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, a lens with omnidirectional radiation in the horizontal plane is designed and simulated with an incident vortex beam carrying the OAM mode l = +2. The designed lens can be potentially implemented with an all-dielectric medium showing a gradient permittivity distribution. Furthermore, the proposed lens presents good performances over a wide operational bandwidth spanning from 8 to 17 GHz. By converting the directional beam to an omnidirectional one, the proposed method opens the door to the potential development of microwave vortex antenna systems.

01 Sep 2018TL;DR: A generalized version of the robust subspace recovery via bi-sparsity pursuitalgorithm is proposed, which allows to build detection maps for each sample and demonstrates the interest of the approach on a real data set.
Abstract: Target detection embedded in a complex interference background such as jamming or strong clutter is an important problem in signal processing. Traditionally, statistical adaptive detection processes are built from a binary hypothesis test performing on a grid of steering vectors. This usually involves the estimation of the noise-plus-interference covariance matrix using i.i.d. samples assumed to be target-free. Moving from this paradigm, we exploit the fact that the interference (clutter and/orjammers) lies in a union of low-dimensional subspaces. Hence, the matrix of concatenated samples can be modeled as a sum of low-rank matrices (union of subspaces containing interferences) plus a sparse matrix times a dictionary of steering-vectors (rep-resenting the targets contribution). Recovering this factorization from the observation matrix allows to build detection maps for each sample. To perform such recovery, we propose a generalized version of the robust subspace recovery via bi-sparsity pursuitalgorithm [1]. Experimental results on a real data set highlight the interest of the approach.

TL;DR: The concept of advanced practice nursing and the way it has been adapted to the French context are still poorly understood as discussed by the authors, however it is however rooted in a long history and is based on well-established international notions.
Abstract: The concept of advanced practice nursing and the way it has been adapted to the French context are still poorly understood. It is however rooted in a long history and is based on well-established international notions. After a phase of structuring, advanced practice nurses are now being deployed across the country, with their missions, their association and their own union. Two years after the first graduations, challenges remain but the future is promising.

TL;DR: In this paper, the central limit theorem for mean magnetization was proved for a SK model with an external field, and some properties of mean magnetisation (i.e., mean spin) were established.
Abstract: Some properties of mean magnetization (i.e., mean spin) are established in the case of a SK model with an external field, and a central limit theorem is proved.
