TL;DR: It was concluded that the NEO PI-R in its present form is useful for assessing adolescents' traits at the primary level, but additional research is necessary to infer the most appropriate facet level structure.
Abstract: The suitability of the Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO PI-R) to assess adolescents' personality traits was investigated in an unselected heterogeneous sample of 469 adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. They were further administered the Hierarchical Personality Inventory for Children (HiPIC) to allow an examination of convergent and discriminant validity. The adult NEO PI-R factor structure proved to be highly replicable in the sample of adolescents, with all facet scales primarily loading on the expected factors, independent of the age group. Domain and facet internal consistency coefficients were comparable to those obtained in adult samples, with less than 12% of the items showing corrected item-facet correlations below absolute value .20. Although, in general, adolescents reported few difficulties with the comprehensibility of the items, they tend to report more problems with the Openness to Ideas (05) and Openness to Values (06) items. Correlations between NEO PI-R and HiPIC scales underscored the convergent and discriminant validity of the NEO facets and HiPIC scales. It was concluded that the NEO PI-R in its present form is useful for assessing adolescents' traits at the primary level, but additional research is necessary to infer the most appropriate facet level structure.

TL;DR: In this article, a variable is said to be causal for another in the long run if knowledge of the past of the former improves long-run predictions of the latter in a multivariate non-stationary, possibly cointegrated framework.
Abstract: In this paper we give a precise definition of long-run causality in a multivariate non-stationary, possibly cointegrated, framework. A variable is said to be causal for another in the long run if knowledge of the past of the former improves long-run predictions of the latter. In a VAR framework, we show that long-run non-causality can be easily tested with a Wald statistics, conditionnally on the cointegration rank. The methodology is used to study long-run causal links between US, German, and French long-term interest rates from January 1990 to June 1997.

TL;DR: KmL is an R package providing an implementation of k-means designed to work specifically on longitudinal data, providing several different techniques for dealing with missing values in trajectories and providing an easy way to export graphical representations of the mean trajectories resulting from the clustering.

TL;DR: The proof-of-concept measurements show that all bi-functional metalenses exhibit two independent functionalities that can be switched by flipping the helicity of the incident illumination, which provides a promising route for the realization of reconfigurable lenses and antennas in wireless communication systems.
Abstract: Regarding miniaturized and integrated systems, a single flat device that possesses diversified functionalities is highly desirable in optical to microwave regimes. With this perspective, bifunctional metalenses constructed by meta-atoms with integrated response to propagation phase and geometric phase are proposed for independent manipulation of right-handed and left-handed circularly polarized waves. The derived general criterion is verified in the microwave region from three bifunctional metalenses operating in transmission manner. The proof-of-concept measurements show that all these metalenses exhibit two independent functionalities that can be switched by flipping the helicity of the incident illumination. Very high efficiencies of around 80%, with peak value of 91%, are achieved by the ultrathin metasurfaces of thickness 0.15λ0. The proposed metasurfaces provide a promising route for the realization of reconfigurable lenses and antennas in wireless communication systems.

TL;DR: According to the mention theory of irony put forward by Sperber and Wilson and tested by Jprgensen, Miller, and Sperberg, verbal irony are implicit echoic mentions of meaning conveying a derogatory attitude to the meaning mentioned.
Abstract: According to the mention theory of irony put forward by Sperber and Wilson and tested by Jprgensen, Miller, and Sperber, verbal ironies are implicit echoic mentions of meaning conveying a derogatory attitude to the meaning mentioned. In their criticisms, Clark and Gerrig misrepresent mention theory. The pretense theory, which they offer as a superior alternative, might provide a plausible description of parody, but it fails to account for many types and many properties of irony proper.
