Abstract: Molybdenum nitride thin films were deposited on (100) silicon substrates by R.F. magnetron sputtering of a Mo target in a (Ar-N2) gas mixtures. The films were studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction. The nanomechanical properties have been determined by nanoindentation and Peak-Force Quantitative Nanomechanical Mapping (PF-QNM). The total internal stresses were determined by curvature measurements and the Stoney formula.
As thin film composition influences the morphology, the stress state and the mechanical properties, modifications are expected in this study where the nitrogen content is tuned. The film exhibits a polycrystalline structure with preferred orientation along (111) plane. The increase of the nitrogen content in the coating (N/Mo =1.1) induces a broadening of the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the (111) diffraction peak, which is attributed to the presence of smaller crystallites. The residual stress and mechanical properties variation were correlated to the structural transition from γ-Mo2N to hexagonal and cubic MoN. The results show a good agreement between the nanomechanical properties obtained by nanoindentation and PF-QNM.

Abstract: A recent theoretical breakthrough has brought a new tool, called the localization landscape, for predicting the localization regions of vibration modes in complex or disordered systems. Here, we report on the first experiment which measures the localization landscape and demonstrates its predictive power. Holographic measurement of the static deformation under uniform load of a thin plate with complex geometry provides direct access to the landscape function. When put in vibration, this system shows modes precisely confined within the subregions delineated by the landscape function. Also the maxima of this function match the measured eigenfrequencies, while the minima of the valley network gives the frequencies at which modes become extended. This approach fully characterizes the low frequency spectrum of a complex structure from a single static measurement. It paves the way for controlling and engineering eigenmodes in any vibratory system, especially where a structural or microscopic description is not accessible.

Abstract: The idea that collaboration is easier between neighbours is nowadays being called into question. The outlines of the different types of proximities have become blurred, and the traditional proximity relations are being replaced by more contrasted relations, in which long-distance interactions and distrust towards one's neighbours are promoted by the constant development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). This paper aims to analyse the respective role of ICT-based exchanges and of those that are made during face-to-face interactions in cooperation between firms engaged in long-distance collaborations. We base our theoretical considerations on various examples, which are based on the result of field research studies from our own work and then reformatted. We use them as stylised facts.
