TL;DR: It is shown that the no-contact and simple design of synchronous reluctance machines means that the opportunities for using them on drilling rigs are great and with properly selected main dimensions and phase current control laws, the specific weight–size parameters of these machines can be improved as compared with their induction counterparts.
Abstract: An electromagnetic design procedure is proposed that allows taking into account the features of jointly utilizing a semiconductor converter and an electric machine in an electric drive system. The parameters of an electric machine are viewed as distributed and found by solving differential equations with distributed parameters, while the variables of control signals are defined by the conventional numerical techniques of a system of ordinary differential equations. The procedure allows defining the potential reserves of magnetoelectrically excited synchronous machines for drilling rig facilities for the power-to-mass ratio. As was shown by the calculations, the choice of the machine’s rated parameters and main dimensions allows using synchronous machines twice as efficiently in terms of power. It is shown that the no-contact and simple design of synchronous reluctance machines means that the opportunities for using them on drilling rigs are great. With properly selected main dimensions and phase current control laws, the specific weight–size parameters of these machines can be improved as compared with their induction counterparts.

TL;DR: The current state of work on such a technical infrastructure for Asset Administration Shells (AAS) is presented, which combines three technologies: a blockchain books who changed an AAS and when, a peer-to-peer (P2P) distributed file system encrypts and stores each version of an AAF, and a version-control system tracks changes to anAAS in detail.
Abstract: Major benefit of Digital Twins lies in collaboration across value added chains based on semantic interoperability. The concept of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) enables sharing of semantically enriched information in Industrie 4.0 application scenarios and beyond. Nevertheless, a technical infrastructure is needed that can ensure data sovereignty, i.e. integrity, confidentiality and availability of information shared across business partners in value added chains. This paper presents the current state of work on such a technical infrastructure for Asset Administration Shells (AAS). It combines three technologies: a blockchain books who changed an AAS and when, a peer-to-peer (P2P) distributed file system encrypts and stores each version of an AAS and a version-control system tracks changes to an AAS in detail. An exemplary value added chain is defined, which will be implemented in a demonstrator. This demonstrator will be used to evaluate and improve the proposed technical infrastructure for collaboration of AAS across value added chains.

TL;DR: Improvements with regards to the connectivity and integration of additional sensors as well as further activities such as coupling of context information about the process and development of a decision making system are discussed.
Abstract: This paper considers an implementation of the predictive maintenance for rotating equipment in a chemical process plant by means of the NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA). Various methods and challenges for monitoring of rotating equipment are described and compared. An approach based on the motor current measurement for the use case at a BASF plant was selected due to construction limitations. The focus is on connectivity aspects as well as details of implementation of the NOA concept. Use of the NOA concept made it possible to deploy the developed monitoring system into a real plant within one day during a planned maintenance window without any permanent alterations to the existing plant. The monitoring system works in parallel and affects neither the process nor the process control directly. Discussion of the first data gathered by the installed monitoring system showed that additional context information about the process are of great importance for the comprehensive analysis. At the end of the paper, improvements with regards to the connectivity and integration of additional sensors as well as further activities such as coupling of context information about the process and development of a decision making system are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a low-cost, fully automated, smart, innovative dust cleaning and cooling system for photovoltaic (PV) panels is presented, which can provide clean energy in a sustainable manner to the rural communities of the developing nations.
Abstract: Solar energy has enormous potential to fulfil the energy requirements of the world and can be extracted using solar cells. However, the solar cells are affected by poor efficiency and further affected by wind speed, orientation of the panel, temperature and dust deposition. There are different cleaning technologies devised by many industry experts to clean the solar panels. However, they are facing drawbacks when deployed in the solar farms. An efficient cleaning system, along with an added cooling system, must be devised so that the solar panels must be cleaned and cooled to maximize the energy production. This paper presents a low-cost, fully automated, smart, innovative dust cleaning and cooling system for photovoltaic (PV) panels. The system is designed, fabricated, fully automated using programmable logic controller (PLC) and tested successfully. The automation procedure is explained in detail. A battery-charging kiosk, capable of charging two, 24 V lead–acid batteries embedded within this prototype, shall provide clean energy in a sustainable manner to the rural communities of the developing nations. The user can check the status of the battery such as battery voltage, battery temperature and state of charge on the human–machine interface (HMI) panel while charging the batteries.

TL;DR: A printed circuit board (12) can be inserted into the accommodating space (15) of the housing (10) along an insertion direction (E) transverse with respect to the sequential direction (T) and is accommodated in an assembly position in a position extending perpendicular to the vertical axis of the insertion direction.
Abstract: An electronic device (1) comprises a housing (10) which has two side walls (100, 101) which are spaced apart from one another along a sequential direction (T) and form an accommodating space (15) therebetween. A printed circuit board (12) can be inserted into the accommodating space (15) of the housing (10) along an insertion direction (E) transverse with respect to the sequential direction (T) and is accommodated in the accommodating space (15) in an assembly position in a position extending perpendicular to the sequential direction (T) and has a side edge (121, 122) extending along the insertion direction (E). At least one attachment part (13, 13A-13G) has at least one engagement receptacle (132) with which the at least one attachment part (13, 13A-13G) can be attached to the side edge (121, 122) of the printed circuit board and is connected to the printed circuit board (12) in an attached position.
