TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a data processing and transmission system with a data transmission network, at least one non-safety-related network element linked to the nonsafety-critical application process and connected to the network, and with a safety-related server unit that processes safety-relevant data necessary for controlling the safety critical application process.
Abstract: For the operation of at least one non-safety-critical application process and at least one safety-critical application process, the invention proposes a data processing and transmission system with a data transmission network, at least one non-safety-related network element linked to the non-safety-critical application process and connected to the network, and with at least one safety-related network element linked to the safety-critical application process, as well as with at least one master unit connected to the network, and a server unit connected to the network separately from the master unit, wherein the safety-related server unit controls the at least one safety-critical application process, specifically by processing safety-relevant data necessary for controlling the safety-critical application process and by organizing the transmission of the safety-relevant data over the network by means of at least one of the network elements and/or the master unit.

TL;DR: The proposed FPGA architecture supports configuration of port numbers, bandwidth reservation for real-time frames and utilizes flow-control mechanisms of the ASIC in order to keep frame buffer sizes low.
Abstract: This paper presents an approach for the enhancement of standard switch ASICs with real-time Ethernet functions. Whereas a standard switch ASIC provides sophisticated mechanisms for switching of non real-time frames, an attached FPGA implements cut-through switching of real-time frames. The proposed FPGA architecture supports configuration of port numbers, bandwidth reservation for real-time frames and utilizes flow-control mechanisms of the ASIC in order to keep frame buffer sizes low. Mapping exemplary RTE extensions of PROFINET IRT onto a Xilinx Spartan 6 FPGA demonstrates the capability of providing band-width reservation and cut-through-forwarding of real-time frames. Therefore, the approach benefits from the innovations made by the switch manufacturers, whereas only a small amount of functions has to be mapped onto an FPGA.

TL;DR: In this article, an electrically conductive cross connection is formed between the input sided connection elements by components of the safety device so that the output voltage of the module lying between input-sided connection elements is reduced to null.
Abstract: The socket (1) has two input sided connection elements (3) for contacting two connection lines projecting from a solar cell module, and two output sided connection elements (4) for connecting with external lines. A safety device (5) is provided within a housing (2). An electrically conductive cross connection is formed between the input sided connection elements by components of the safety device so that the output voltage of the module lying between input sided connection elements is reduced to null by the cross connection in an active condition of the safety device. The safety device has a drive e.g. pneumatic or hydraulic device, switchable magnet or electric motor.

TL;DR: In this article, a bus coupler converts a network specific telegram arriving from an external network to an internal data telegram which transmits only the payload data from the network-specific telegram also contains at least one state information field for internal control information.
Abstract: The invention relates to a bus coupler which converts a network-specific telegram arriving from an external network to an internal data telegram which transmits only the payload data from the network-specific telegram. The internal data telegram also contains at least one state information field for internal control information. The internal data telegram is transferred from the bus coupler to an internal bus system to which multiple bus users are connected in series. Each bus user connected to the internal bus system is able to monitor, in a decentralized and preferably autonomous manner, the communication quality of the lower-level bus system, and to initiate actions, depending on the implementation, on the basis of the internal control information received from the bus coupler, the internal control information generated by the particular bus user, and/or the internal control information received from the directly adjacent bus users.
