TL;DR: Recommendations for best treatment strategies were discussed at length, providing the evidence base underpinning current treatment options, and knowledge gaps were identified and a prioritized research agenda was proposed to resolve outstanding controversial issues.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of citrate ions on the growth of magnetite particles is investigated and the characterisation of the maghemite particles by various techniques (X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, magnetic measurements) is described.

TL;DR: In this article, the extent of land-cover change caused by people is analyzed. But the authors focus on the terrestrial water cycle and do not consider the effects of human impacts on it.
Abstract: Human impacts on the terrestrial water cycle have the potential to influence hazards such as flooding and drought, so understanding the extent of our influence is an important research goal. A study utilizing estimates of evapotranspiration for different types of land cover and a database of changes in use now shows that the extent of land-cover change caused by people is already an important factor affecting the terrestrial water cycle.

TL;DR: A new microsporidium is reported infesting the enterocytes of a Haitian patients with AIDS, where the organism is named Enterocytozoon bieneusi and is assigned to the suborder Apansporoblastina.
Abstract: A new microsporidium is reported infesting the enterocytes of a Haitian patients with AIDS. The stages observed were diplokaryotic cells, sporogonial plasmodia, unikaryotic sporoblasts, and spores. Neither a sporophorous vesicle (pansporoblastic membrane) nor parasitophorous vacuole were differentiated around the developmental stages, which were in direct contact with the host cell cytoplasm. The polar tube (5-6 coils) was differentiated before fission of the sporogonial plasmodium. The mature spores measured 1.5 micron X 0.5 micron. The spore wall was very thin as the endospore was absent or poorly differentiated. The organism is named Enterocytozoon bieneusi n. g., n. sp. and is assigned to the suborder Apansporoblastina.

TL;DR: The discovery and characterization of platinum nitride (PtN), the first binary nitride of the noble metals group, is reported, characterized by a very high Raman-scattering cross-section with easily observed second- and third-order Raman bands.
Abstract: There has been considerable interest in the synthesis of new nitrides because of their technological and fundamental importance. Although numerous metals react with nitrogen there are no known binary nitrides of the noble metals. We report the discovery and characterization of platinum nitride (PtN), the first binary nitride of the noble metals group. This compound can be formed above 45-50 GPa and temperatures exceeding 2,000 K, and is stable after quenching to room pressure and temperature. It is characterized by a very high Raman-scattering cross-section with easily observed second- and third-order Raman bands. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction shows that the new phase is cubic with a remarkably high bulk modulus of 372(+/-5) GPa.
