TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider an option on a stock whose volatility is unknown and stochastic and show that if the misspecified volatility dominates the true volatility, then the option's price of the option dominates its true price.
Abstract: Consider an option on a stock whose volatility is unknown and stochastic An agent assumes this volatility to be a specific function of time and the stock price, knowing that this assumption may result in a misspecification of the volatility However, if the misspecified volatility dominates the true volatility, then the misspecified price of the option dominates its true price Moreover, the option hedging strategy computed under the assumption of the misspecified volatility provides an almost sure one-sided hedge for the option under the true volatility Analogous results hold if the true volatility dominates the misspecified volatility These comparisons can fail, however, if the misspecified volatility is not assumed to be a function of time and the stock price The positive results, which apply to both European and American options, are used to obtain a bound and hedge for Asian options

TL;DR: It is shown here for the first time that reproduction decreases antioxidant defences, illustrating that oxidative stress represents a cost of reproduction and suggesting that increased susceptibility to oxidative stress might be a general proximal connection between reproduction and survival underlying other mechanistic links previously acknowledged.

However, the proximal mechanisms of these costs remain poorly understood. Free radicals arising as by-products of normal metabolic activities have deleterious effects on cellular proteins, lipids and DNA, and this phenomenon is known as oxidative stress. Since reproduction is an energetically demanding activity, which increases both basal and field metabolic rates, one could expect that breeding effort generates an oxidative stress whose strength depends on the availability and efficiency of antioxidant defences. In agreement with this prediction, we show here for the first time that reproduction decreases antioxidant defences, illustrating that oxidative stress represents a cost of reproduction. We suggest that increased susceptibility to oxidative stress might be a general proximal connection between reproduction and survival underlying other mechanistic links previously acknowledged.

TL;DR: The reported antitumoral and antibiotic properties of molybdates and tungstates in vitro and in vivo are compiled and discussed, as are their influences on the blood glucose level in diabetic animals.
Abstract: An increasing number of potential applications for polyoxometalates in human medicine have been reported in the literature. These inorganic complexes are composed of early transition metals (mainly molybdenum, tungsten and vanadium) and oxygen. The present review gives an introduction into the chemistry of these compounds, and an overview of the principal studies of their biological and biochemical effects and their therapeutic potential. The reported antitumoral and antibiotic properties of molybdates and tungstates in vitro and in vivo are compiled and discussed, as are their influences on the blood glucose level in diabetic animals. Aspects of antiviral activities and cell penetration are treated.

TL;DR: In this article, a doubly charmed baryon Ξcc++ was observed in a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV.
Abstract: A highly significant structure is observed in the Λc+K-π+π+ mass spectrum, where the Λc+ baryon is reconstructed in the decay mode pK-π+. The structure is consistent with originating from a weakly decaying particle, identified as the doubly charmed baryon Ξcc++. The difference between the masses of the Ξcc++ and Λc+ states is measured to be 1334.94±0.72(stat.)±0.27(syst.) MeV/c2, and the Ξcc++ mass is then determined to be 3621.40±0.72(stat.)±0.27(syst.)±0.14(Λc+) MeV/c2, where the last uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the Λc+ mass. The state is observed in a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb-1, and confirmed in an additional sample of data collected at 8 TeV.
