TL;DR: The paper presents HDM (Hypertext Design Model), a first step towards defining a general purpose model for authoring-in-the-large, and the central advantages of HDM in the design and practical construction of hypertext applications is that the definition of a significant number of links can be derived automatically from a conceptual-design level description.
Abstract: Hypertext development should benefit from a systematic, structured development, especially in the case of large and complex applications. A structured approach to hypertext development suggests the notion of authoring-in-the-large. Authoring-in-the-large allows the description of overall classes of information elements and navigational structures of complex applications without much concern with implementation details, and in a system-independent manner. The paper presents HDM (Hypertext Design Model), a first step towards defining a general purpose model for authoring-in-the-large. Some of the most innovative features of HDM are: the notion of perspective; the identification of different categories of links (structural links, application links, and perspective links) with different representational roles; the distinction between hyperbase and access structures; and the possibility of easily integrating the structure of a hypertext application with its browsing semantics. HDM can be used in different manners: as a modeling device or as an implementation device. As a modeling device, it supports producing high level specifications of existing or to-be-developed applications. As an implementation device, it is the basis for designing tools that directly support application development. One of the central advantages of HDM in the design and practical construction of hypertext applications is that the definition of a significant number of links can be derived automatically from a conceptual-design level description. Examples of usage of HDM are also included.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe scenarios that limit end-of-century radiative forcing to 1.9 Wm−2, and consequently restrict median warming in the year 2100 to below 1.5 W m−2.
Abstract: The 2015 Paris Agreement calls for countries to pursue efforts to limit global-mean temperature rise to 1.5 °C. The transition pathways that can meet such a target have not, however, been extensively explored. Here we describe scenarios that limit end-of-century radiative forcing to 1.9 W m−2, and consequently restrict median warming in the year 2100 to below 1.5 °C. We use six integrated assessment models and a simple climate model, under different socio-economic, technological and resource assumptions from five Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs). Some, but not all, SSPs are amenable to pathways to 1.5 °C. Successful 1.9 W m−2 scenarios are characterized by a rapid shift away from traditional fossil-fuel use towards large-scale low-carbon energy supplies, reduced energy use, and carbon-dioxide removal. However, 1.9 W m−2 scenarios could not be achieved in several models under SSPs with strong inequalities, high baseline fossil-fuel use, or scattered short-term climate policy. Further research can help policy-makers to understand the real-world implications of these scenarios.

01 Jan 1990TL;DR: This book presents a systematic overview of the interaction between logic programming and database systems, and provides a careful introduction to the underlying paradigms and their theoretical foundations, and stresses the problems involved in achieving efficiency when interfacing logic programming formalisms with large databases.
Abstract: This book presents a systematic overview of the interaction between logic programming and database systems. Merging these two technologies permits new types of systems which extend the frontiers of computer science and open up new applications, such as deductive databases, knowledge base management systems, and expert database systems. The book opens with an overview and an introductory review, then is divided into three parts devoted to - the coupling of Prolog with relational databases, - the precise definition of the Datalog language, and - the description of query optimization techniques and extensions of Datalog. A closing chapter reviews the main projects on the integration of logic programming and databases, including LDL, Nail! and the Fifth Generation Project. The presentation achieves a balance between theoretical and technological issues, by providing a careful introduction to the underlying paradigms and their theoretical foundations, and by stressing the problems involved in achieving efficiency when interfacing logic programming formalisms with large databases. The book is thus suited for members of both the database and logic programming communities. The authors use a tutorial style complete with examples and exercises to introduce students as well as researchers to this developing field.

TL;DR: The authors discuss the exploitation of this spectral shift for generation of "low noise" interferogram benefiting phase unwrapping, generation of quick-look interferograms, decorrelation reduction by means of tunable SAR systems (TINSAR), 4) range resolution enhancement, and the combination of SAR data gathered by different platforms (airborne and satellite) for a "long-time coherence" study.
Abstract: SAR surveys from separate passes show relative shifts of the ground wavenumber spectra that depend on the local slope and the off-nadir angle. The authors discuss the exploitation of this spectral shift for different applications: 1) generation of "low noise" interferograms benefiting phase unwrapping, 2) generation of quick-look interferograms, 3) decorrelation reduction by means of tunable SAR systems (TINSAR), 4) range resolution enhancement, and 5) the combination of SAR data gathered by different platforms (airborne and satellite) for a "long-time coherence" study. >

TL;DR: It is shown that rapid light–induced free-radical polymerization at ambient temperature produces multifunctional fluorinated photopolymer coatings that confer luminescent and easy-cleaning features on the front side of the devices, while concurrently forming a strongly hydrophobic barrier toward environmental moisture on the back contact side.
Abstract: Organometal halide perovskite solar cells have demonstrated high conversion efficiency but poor long-term stability against ultraviolet irradiation and water. We show that rapid light-induced free-radical polymerization at ambient temperature produces multifunctional fluorinated photopolymer coatings that confer luminescent and easy-cleaning features on the front side of the devices, while concurrently forming a strongly hydrophobic barrier toward environmental moisture on the back contact side. The luminescent photopolymers re-emit ultraviolet light in the visible range, boosting perovskite solar cells efficiency to nearly 19% under standard illumination. Coated devices reproducibly retain their full functional performance during prolonged operation, even after a series of severe aging tests carried out for more than 6 months.
