TL;DR: Numerical simulations of acoustic wave propagation through sonic crystals consisting of local resonators using the local interaction simulation approach (LISA) are performed and three strong attenuation bands are found at frequencies between 0.3 and 6.0 kHz, which do not depend on the periodicity of the crystal.

Abstract: This paper addresses the construction of lumped macromodels for package structures. A technique named Time-Domain Vector Fitting (TD-VF) is introduced for the identification of the dominant poles of the structure. This method uses as raw data transient excitations and responses at the ports of the structure. These responses are easily obtained from transient full-wave electromagnetic solvers based, e.g., on Finite Differences. The rational approximation can be easily synthesized into a SPICE-compatible subcircuit providing a broadband approximation to the input-output behavior of the package.

TL;DR: In this article, a review of state-of-the-art systems and approaches developed for WSN-based localization and tracking of active as well as passive targets is presented.
Abstract: [1] Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have shown many attractive features in a lot of real-world applications that motivate their rapid and wide diffusion. One of the most challenging topics when dealing with WSNs is the localization and tracking of objects from measurements collected by the nodes themselves. Once distributed in a region without the knowledge of their positions, the nodes actively take part in the localization of the network as well as to the detection and monitoring of the presence and movements of targets lying within the sensed area. This paper reviews state-of-the-art systems and approaches developed for WSN-based localization and tracking of active as well as passive targets. The main focus is on systems that exploit the strength of the received signal, always available at the WSN nodes, without ad hoc or additional hardware. Recent strategies for WSN-based imaging are discussed as well.

26 Oct 2009TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide an all-inclusive treatment of electronic and optoelectronic devices used in high-speed optical communication systems, emphasizing circuit applications, advanced device design solutions, and noise in sources and receivers.
Abstract: Providing an all-inclusive treatment of electronic and optoelectronic devices used in high-speed optical communication systems, this book emphasizes circuit applications, advanced device design solutions, and noise in sources and receivers. Core topics covered include semiconductors and semiconductor optical properties, high-speed circuits and transistors, detectors, sources, and modulators. It discusses in detail both active devices (heterostructure field-effect and bipolar transistors) and passive components (lumped and distributed) for high-speed electronic integrated circuits. It also describes recent advances in high-speed devices for 40 Gbps systems. Introductory elements are provided, making the book open to readers without a specific background in optoelectronics, whilst end-of-chapter review questions and numerical problems enable readers to test their understanding and experiment with realistic data.
