TL;DR: An endoproteinase induced by citrus exocortis viroid has been purified from tomato leaves and was designated proteinase P-69 as it has a molecular weight of 69,000 to 70,000.
Abstract: An endoproteinase induced by citrus exocortis viroid has been purified from tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, cv “Rutgers”) leaves. The proteinase corresponds to one of the major pathogenesis-related proteins of tomato plants and was designated proteinase P-69 as it has a molecular weight of 69,000 to 70,000. The proteinase was purified in four steps: (NH4)2SO4 fractionation, chromatography on Bio-Gel P-60, DEAE-Sepharose chromatography, and casein-Sepharose affinity chromatography. The proteinase had a pH optimum of 8.5 to 9.0 when assayed with either fluorescein thiocarbamoyl derivative (FTC)-casein or FTC-ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase as substrates. The proteinase activity was inhibited by pCMB and strongly activated by calcium and magnesium ions as well as by DTT. When analyzed by electrofocusing, the activity showed a pI around 9.0.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors define the dual density conditions (DDC) and (SDDC) for locally convex topological vector spaces and study them in the setting of the class of (DF)- spaces.
Abstract: We define the two “dual density conditions” (DDC) and (SDDC) for locally convex topological vector spaces and study them in the setting of the class of (DF)- spaces (originally introduced by A. Grothendieck [14]). We show that for a (DF)- space E, (DDC) is equivalent to the metrizability of the bounded subsets of E, and prove that such a space E has (DDC) resp. (SDDC) if and only if the space l∞(E) of all bounded sequences in E is quasibarrelled resp. bornological. As a consequence, we can then characterize the barrelled spaces % MathType!MTEF!2!1!+-% feaaeaart1ev0aaatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLn% hiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXanrfitLxBI9gBaerbd9wDYLwzYbItLDharqqt% ubsr4rNCHbGeaGqiVu0Je9sqqrpepC0xbbL8F4rqqrFfpeea0xe9Lq% -Jc9vqaqpepm0xbba9pwe9Q8fs0-yqaqpepae9pg0FirpepeKkFr0x% fr-xfr-xb9adbaqaaeGaciGaaiaabeqaamaabaabaaGcbaGaamyuam% aaBaaaleaacaaIXaGaaGimaaqabaGccqGH9aqpciGGSbGaaiOBaiaa% ysW7caWGRbWaaSbaaSqaaiaadsfacaaIXaaabeaakiaac+cacaWGRb% WaaSbaaSqaaiaadsfacaaIYaaabeaakiabg2da9iabgkHiTmaabmaa% baGaamyramaaBaaaleaacaWGHbaabeaakiaac+cacaWGsbaacaGLOa% GaayzkaaGaey41aq7aaiWaaeaadaqadaqaaiaadsfadaWgaaWcbaGa% aGOmaaqabaGccqGHsislcaWGubWaaSbaaSqaaiaaigdaaeqaaaGcca% GLOaGaayzkaaGaai4laiaacIcacaWGubWaaSbaaSqaaiaaikdaaeqa% aOGaaGjbVlaadsfadaWgaaWcbaGaamysaaqabaGccaGGPaaacaGL7b% GaayzFaaaaaa!5C4A! ${\cal L}_b(\lambda_1,\ E)$ of continuous linear mappings from a Kothe echelon space λ1 into a locally complete (DF)- space E; for purposes of a comparison, we also provide the corresponding characterization of the quasibarrelled resp. bornological (DF)- tensor products (λ1)b ′ ⊗e E. Taskinen (see [25]), of Grothendieck’s “probleme des topologies” ([15]). — In part II of the article, we will treat weighted inductive limits of spaces of continuous functions and their projective hulls (cf. [6]) as an application. In his study of ultrapowers of locally convex spaces, S. Heinrich [16] had found it necessary to introduce the “density condition”. Our article [2] investigated this condition, mainly in the setting of Frechet spaces, and with applications to distinguished echelon spaces λ1. However, on the way to the main theorems of [2], it became apparent that the “right” setting for most of this material was a dual reformulation of the density condition in the context of (DF)- spaces, and this observation prompted the present research.

Abstract: Patulin and griseofulvin production by twelve strains ofPenicillium griseofulvum Dierckx, eleven of which were isolated from pistachio (Pistacia vera) nuts and the other was supplied by the Spanish Collection of Type Culture, was investigated. Six strains of the eleven isolated had ability to produce patulin and griseofulvin in Yes medium. All the strains studied had no ability to produce patulin in Wickerham medium. Griseofulvin production was significant in both media but higher in Wickerham.

TL;DR: The eigenvalues method as mentioned in this paper provides an explicit continuous-in-time solution for groundwater flow equations, where only space is discretized and a vector differential equation is obtained, and both finite differences and finite elements can be used to approximate partial derivatives of space.
Abstract: The eigenvalues method provides an explicit continuous-in-time solution for groundwater flow equations. Only space is discretized and a vector differential equation is obtained. Both finite differences and finite elements can be used to approximate partial derivatives of space. The eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a matrix, which is a function of the coefficients of the linear equations of the vector differential equation, are the key to the solution. The state of the aquifer can be expressed on the orthonormal basis provided by the eigenvectors.

Abstract: Relative growth of length and thickness of femur, tibia, humerus and radius-ulna was studied using data from 320 rabbits from both sexes of two lines (New Zealand White and California). A cross-sectional design was used with slaughter points fixed at weekly intervals from 1 to 20 weeks of age. Carcass length was chosen as independent variable and two models were fitted to the data. Model 1 assumed the existence of one allometric change at some moment of the post-natal development and model 2 of a continuous change of the allometric coefficient throughout the experimental period. Most of the bone measurement showed allometric changes and in all the cases they were not abrupt but continuous. The theoretical and practical implications of the existence of these changes are discussed. The allometric coefficients of all the bone measurements showed a decreasing rate of change except radius-ulna thickness. While the coefficients for bone lengths were positive tending to isometry, for bone thickness they were always negative.

TL;DR: Grammatical Inference is the learning or model estimation phase required by any Syntactic approach to Pattern Recognition (PR), and some general methodology seems to be strongly required.
Abstract: Grammatical Inference (GI) is the learning or model estimation phase required by any Syntactic approach to Pattern Recognition (PR). Some fundamental results on GI have been known since the 60’s through the works by Gold (1967) and Feldman (1972), which stablished that the decidability of any (even regular) GI problem depends largely upon the avaibility of both an adequate positive sample R+ of strings known to have been generated by the unknown Grammar, and an equally adequate negative sample R- of strings not generated by that Grammar. Despite these results being commonly recognized, taking into account negative samples, lead, in general to intractable GI problems (see /Angluin,78/) and, consequently, most recent works on GI only use positive samples, an aim just at giving practical solutions to specific PR problems (see eg. /Angluin,83/ /Fu,75/). Clearly, this paradigm is not a very appealing one, and some general methodology seems to be strongly required.

TL;DR: The first theorical formulation about the longshore currents were established by Bowen (1969), Longet-Higgins (1970), and Thornton (1970) as mentioned in this paper, and they obtained a little precise results basing their works in simplest formulations, it shows in Sonu et al. (1966).
Abstract: For a better Knowledge of the causes about the littoral solid transport is essential to experience advances in the littoral hydrodynamic. In this field the longshore currents are may be who play the most important role due to the intensity, the distribution and the relative duration of them, causing the movement of the solid particles due to the suspension of them and the friction in bottom. The first theorical formulation about the longshore currents were established by Bowen (1969), Longet-Higgins (1970) and Thornton (1970). Previously another works trated an aproximation about the problem, obtaining a little precise results basing his works in simplest formulations, it shows in Sonu et alt. (1966).
