Abstract: A method for inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) by a home evolved NodeB (HeNB) is described. A portion of bandwidth is reserved for a user equipment (UE). Notification of the reserved portion of bandwidth is sent to at least one potentially interfering evolved NodeB (eNB). A data exchange is performed with the UE using the reserved portion of bandwidth. Notification is sent to the potentially interfering eNBs releasing the reserved portion of bandwidth.

TL;DR: In this article, a dual-mode communications processor with an input port for receiving digitized data is presented, in which first and second signal processing operations are performed upon the digitised data received during operation in first-and second-mode, respectively.
Abstract: A dual-mode communications processor disposed to be incorporated within a dual-mode communications device is disclosed herein. The dual-mode communications processor comprises a dual-mode voiceband signal processor having an input port for receiving digitized data. Within the dual-mode voiceband signal processor, first and second signal processing operations are performed upon the digitized data received during operation in first and second modes, respectively. These separate signal processing operations may advantageously be performed using common circuit elements within the dual-mode voiceband signal processor. In an exemplary embodiment the first signal processing operation is performed in accordance with a predefined vocoding algorithm, while the second signal processing operation involves the filtering of the digitized data as prescribed by FM cellular telephone standards. The dual-mode communications processor further includes a digital modulation modem coupled to the dual-mode voiceband signal processor. The digital modulation modem generates digital modulation data using the digitized data processed by the dual-mode voiceband signal processor during operation in the first mode. An FM modulator, also coupled to the dual-mode voiceband signal processor, generates FM modulation data using the digitized data processed by the dual-mode voiceband signal processor during operation in the second mode. A controller is provided for selecting between operation in the first and second modes. A dual-mode port allows the digitized data to be transferred to and from a dual-mode interface buffer over a common signal path during operation in both the first and second modes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method and apparatus to facilitate the locating and tracking of a wireless terminal, which may be advantageously used for E-911 service, where the terminal may be directed to transmit a beacon for certain events, such as in connection with a 911 call.
Abstract: A method and apparatus to facilitate the locating and tracking of a wireless terminal, which may be advantageously used for E-911 service. The terminal may be directed to transmit a beacon for certain events, such as in connection with a 911 call. The beacon has a specific format known by the wireless network, and may be periodically or continuously transmitted. The beacon may be transmitted using various schemes. In a first scheme, the terminal transmits the beacon only when directed to do so by a designated network entity (e.g., the PSAP). In a second scheme, the terminal transmits the beacon in conjunction with the 911 call, and is thereafter directed to terminate the beacon transmission by the designated network entity. The beacon allows the terminal to be accurately located even if it has moved or is physically located in an enclosed or “not-so-obvious” location.

TL;DR: A context awareness proximity-based establishment of wireless communication connections can be implemented in Bluetooth-compatible devices for simplifying procedures for device discovery, connection discovery, service discovery, and content exchange.
Abstract: A mechanism for context awareness proximity-based establishment of wireless communication connections can be implemented in Bluetooth-compatible devices for simplifying procedures for device discovery, connection, service discovery, and content exchange In response to determining to execute a context task associated with an application associated with a first communication device, the first communication device can determine whether a second communication device is within a threshold detection distance from the first communication device If the second communication device is within the threshold detection distance from the first communication device, the first communication device can establish a communication link with the second communication device based, at least in part, on one or more connection parameters associated with the second communication device The first communication device can determine whether to execute the context task based, at least in part, on a service list associated with the second communication device and the context task

TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for wirelessly transmitting power is described, consisting of a wireless power transmitter and a charging surface, which is formed with an array of orthogonally disposed protrusions.
Abstract: The invention described herein relates to wireless power transfer systems and methods that efficiently and safely transfer power to electronic devices. In an aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus for wirelessly transmitting power is provided. The apparatus may comprise a wireless power transmitter and a charging surface. The charging surface at least partially covers the wireless power transmitter and is formed with an array of orthogonally disposed protrusions. The protrusions are configured to extend away from the charging surface.
