TL;DR: In this paper, a public wireless-power-transmitting device includes a transmit antenna to wirelessly transfer power by generating a near-field radiation at a resonant frequency within a coupling-mode region and an amplifier for driving the transmit antenna.
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to public wireless-power-transmission. A device disposed in or on a publicly placed structure and a user neighboring device includes a repeater antenna with a loop antenna and a capacitive element. The public wireless-power-transmitting device includes a transmit antenna to wirelessly transfer power by generating a near-field radiation at a resonant frequency within a coupling-mode region and an amplifier for driving the transmit antenna. When in the coupling-mode region, the repeater antenna couples with the near-field radiation generated by the transmit antenna and develops an enhanced coupling-mode region about the repeater antenna with a repeated near-field radiation that is stronger than the near-field radiation of the transmit antenna within the enhanced coupling-mode region. Power may be wirelessly transferred from the enhanced coupling-mode region to a receiver device including a receive antenna.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a system and method for providing group communication services in an existing communication system, where group communications are enabled by installing a communications manager in a data network such as the Internet.
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for providing group communication services in an existing communication system. Group communications are enabled by installing a communications manager in a data network such as the Internet. The communications manager acts as a configurable switch, allowing communications from any group member to be transmitted to all other group members. The communications processed by the communications manager take the form of data packets, suitable for transmission over the data network. The data packets are generated by communication devices operating within the communication system. The use of the communications manager further allows users of other communication systems and devices to participate in group communications with each other.

TL;DR: In this article, a distributed antenna system (30, 35) is utilized in a communication system for providing multipath signals which facilitate signal diversity for enhanced system performance, where each node (200) of the antenna system comprises more than one antenna (196).
Abstract: A distributed antenna system (30, 35) is utilized in a communication system for providing multipath signals which facilitate signal diversity for enhanced system performance. Each node (200) of the antenna system (30, 35) comprises more than one antenna (196). Each antenna (196) at a common node (200) provides a path having a different delay to the base station (100).

TL;DR: A breadboard CDMA digital cellular system was developed by QUALCOMM and demonstrated in San Diego in November 1989 and in February 1990, an extensive technical field trial was carried out in midtown Manhattan with NYNEX Mobile.
Abstract: A breadboard CDMA digital cellular system was developed by QUALCOMM and demonstrated in San Diego in November 1989. In February 1990, an extensive technical field trial was carried out in midtown Manhattan with NYNEX Mobile. For the purposes of carrying out the CDMA trials and demonstrations, a total of three cell-site and two mobile prototype units were built. In each case, the demonstration system utilized two actual cell sites and one mobile and included A/B comparisons with the commercial analog system. The fundamental features of CDMA, such as power control and soft handoff, were tested and proven in a variety of field conditions. The authors describe the CDMA signal and waveform design, the CDMA system design, CDMA power control, and additional features of CDMA. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified derivative-superposition (DS) method was proposed to increase the maximum IIP3 at RF frequencies, which was used in a 0.25mum Si CMOS low-noise amplifier (LNA) designed for cellular code-division multiple access receivers.
Abstract: Intermodulation distortion in field-effect transistors (FETs) at RF frequencies is analyzed using the Volterra-series analysis. The degrading effect of the circuit reactances on the maximum IIP3 in the conventional derivative-superposition (DS) method is explained. The noise performance of this method is also analyzed and the effect of the subthreshold biasing of one of the FETs on the noise figure (NF) is shown. A modified DS method is proposed to increase the maximum IIP3 at RF. It was used in a 0.25-mum Si CMOS low-noise amplifier (LNA) designed for cellular code-division multiple-access receivers. The LNA achieved +22-dBm IIP3 with 15.5-dB gain, 1.65-dB NF, and 9.3 mA@2.6-V power consumption
