27 Sep 2006TL;DR: In this article, a method of processing multimedia data includes classifying content of multimedia data, and encoding the multimedia data in a first data group and in a second data group based on the content classification.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods of using content information for encoding multimedia data are described. A method of processing multimedia data includes classifying content of multimedia data, and encoding the multimedia data in a first data group and in a second data group based on the content classification, wherein the first data group comprises a coefficient and the second data group comprises a first differential refinement associated with the first data group coefficient. An apparatus for using content information for encoding multimedia data includes a content classifying module configured to classify content of multimedia data and provide content classification data, and an encoder configured to encode the multimedia data in a first data group and in a second data group based on the content classification, wherein the first data group comprises a coefficient and the second data group comprises a first differential refinement associated with the first data group coefficient.

27 Oct 2003TL;DR: In this paper, a system traffic may be arranged into different categories (e.g., control data, user data, and pilot data) and one or more OFDM symbols of the proper sizes may be selected for use based on the expected payload size for the traffic in that category.
Abstract: System traffic may be arranged into different categories (e.g., control data, user data, and pilot data). For each category, one or more OFDM symbols of the proper sizes may be selected for use based on the expected payload size for the traffic in that category. For example, control data may be transmitted using OFDM symbols of a first size, user data may be transmitted using OFDM symbols of the first size and a second size, and pilot data may be transmitted using OFDM symbols of a third size or the first size. In one exemplary design, a small OFDM symbol is utilized for pilot and for transport channels used to send control data, and a large OFDM symbol and the small OFDM symbol are utilized for transport channels used to send user data.

15 Feb 2002TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose techniques to support independent power control of multiple channels in CDMA systems (e.g., a WCDMA system) that define a single power control feedback steam on the uplink, which is to be used for downlink power control.
Abstract: Techniques to support independent power control of multiple channels in CDMA systems (e.g., a W-CDMA system) that define a single power control feedback steam on the uplink, which is to be used for downlink power control. In one aspect, the single feedback stream is 'time shared' among multiple channels requiring individual power control. Various time-sharing schemes may be used to implement multiple (substantially parallel) feedback substreams based on the single feedback stream, and different combination of feedback rates may also be achieved for the substreams. Each feedback substream may be assigned to, and used for power control of, a respective channel. In another aspect, multiple feedback substreams are implemented based on multiple fields in newly defined slot formats.

14 Dec 1999TL;DR: In this article, the CODEC manager software is used to recognize voice frames on the data channel by using push-to-talk (P2P) buttons. But it is not known whether the recognition of voice frames can be performed by the receiver.
Abstract: A wireless telephone (302) digitizes the voice of the user in response to the depression of a push-to-talk button (110), either physical or virtual. It sends the digitized voice, in data mode, to a base station (308). The base station places the data, through the Internet, or an Intranet or Extranet, on a server (312). Other wireless phones (304-306) recover the data from the server through the same (308) or different (310) base station, through the Internet, Intranet, or Extranet, and convert the data back to digitized voice. The base stations transmit the digitized voice to other wireless telephones (306), which convert them back to voice in response to the recognition of voice frames on the data channel by the CODEC manager software. Networked computers (314) may be configured to emulate a combined base station and wireless telephone. The server can dynamically designate any wireless telephone (or landline emulation) as the broadcaster, and can dynamically configure any set of telephones/emulations as the receivers of the broadcast.

TL;DR: In this article, the uses of an enhanced sidetone signal in an active noise cancellation operation are described. But the authors do not discuss the application of the enhanced sideto-signal in the active cancellation operation.
Abstract: Uses of an enhanced sidetone signal in an active noise cancellation operation are disclosed.
