TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of a solar chimney power plant (SCPP) is evaluated if established in the Kota region of Rajasthan in India, and the total energy generation and average power output for every ten minute interval has been calculated on the basis of solar radiation and temperature data provided by Centre for wind energy technology (C-WET) available for the period from June 2011-May 2012 for every 10 minute interval.
Abstract: A solar chimney power plant (SCPP) sometimes also called 'solar updraft tower' is a part of the solar thermal group of indirect solar conversion technologies, utilizing a combination of solar air collector and central updraft tube or chimney to generate a solar induced convective flow which drives pressure staged turbines to generate electricity. In this paper the performance of a solar chimney power plant (SCPP) is evaluated if established in the Kota region of Rajasthan in India. Kota has high intensity of solar radiation with more than 270 sunny days in a year. To investigate the theoretical performance evaluation of the solar chimney power plant in Kota region, total energy generation and average power output for every ten minute interval has been calculated on the basis of solar radiation and temperature data provided by Centre for wind energy Technology (C-WET) available for the period from June 2011-May 2012 for every ten minute interval. Subsequently day wise and month wise calculations have been performed for energy generation and power output for the year June 2011 - May 2012. Further, annual average power output of SCPP is calculated at Kota for different sets of dimensions of SCPP and assuming different values of collector efficiency. Power produced at the plant established in Kota region is compared with power output estimated by J. Schlaich by their experience gained from prototype of SCPP in Manzanares, Spain. Land area required for solar chimney power plant if installed in Kota region of Rajasthan India is calculated for 200 MW capacity plant.

TL;DR: The proposed modified variant of SMO, known as adaptive step-size based spider monkey optimization (AsSMO) algorithm, is compared with SMO and self-adaptive spider monkey optimized over 15 benchmark functions and reported results show that AsSMO is a spell variant among them.
Abstract: Spider Monkey Optimization (SMO) algorithm is recent swarm intelligence based meta-heuristic technique to solve the continuous optimization problems. Many times, it suffers from the problem of slow convergence. To improve the exploitation abilities and evading premature convergence, a modified variant of SMO is proposed. The modified variant is known as adaptive step-size based spider monkey optimization (AsSMO) algorithm. In position update process of AsSMO, step-size is calculated by the fitness of a spider monkey. The prominent fit solutions will converge quickly in comparison to the non-prominent fit solutions. The proposed algorithm is compared with SMO and self-adaptive spider monkey optimization (SaSMO) over 15 benchmark functions and reported results show that AsSMO is a spell variant among them.

TL;DR: In this paper, two different morphologies were used to synthesize polycrystalline bismuth telluride nanostructures using a wet chemical method and the results showed that nanoparticles showed the highest thermal stability.
Abstract: Bismuth telluride ( $${\hbox {Bi}}_{2} {\hbox {Te}}_{3}$$ ) has myriad applications in the field of topological insulators and thermoelectrics In the present work, $${\hbox {Bi}}_{2} {\hbox {Te}}_{3}$$ nanostructures with two different morphologies were synthesized by wet chemical method Prepared nanostructures were found to be polycrystalline with rhombohedral crystal structure and r3m space group Formation of oxides along with $${\hbox {Bi}}_{2} {\hbox {Te}}_{3}$$ was observed in the X-ray diffraction pattern and was further confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy Oxidation is an important parameter that affects the properties of the nanostructured materials The morphological investigation done using transmission electron microscopy indicates the formation of nanoparticles and nanorod-like structures Studies related to their thermal stability were performed using thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry Thermal properties of nanostructures were further compared with bulk single crystals of $${\hbox {Bi}}_{2} {\hbox {Te}}_{3}$$ Among the synthesized morphologies, nanoparticles showed highest thermal stability Overall weight loss of nanoparticles was found to be 21% as compared to 55% for bulk $${\hbox {Bi}}_{2} {\hbox {Te}}_{3}$$ High thermal stability of nanoparticles indicates that they may be more suitable as compared to their bulk counterparts for thermoelectric applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the Earth-air-pipe heat exchanger (EAPHE) can be utilized as a passive cooling and heating framework by using geothermal energy and the audit on execution and mechanical advancement of EAPHE at various atmosphere conditions is presented.
Abstract: The energy demand for the private and business building increases quickly with the population. In the last two decade indicated extreme energy emergency found in creating nations particularly amid summer season. For hot atmosphere nations like India, the use of cooling framework assumes essential part. The Mechanical Vapor Compression (MVC) frameworks toward this path are demonstrating effective however in the present situation when the demand of energy is expanding, and the supply isn’t adequate one should center around the passive cooling techniques or other substitute which can meet necessity at least cost and energy utilization. As the passive cooling not just gives the course of the outside air to keep up the freshness yet in addition keep up the solace at low energy necessity, such a significant number of analysts have been working over these frameworks to discover it as a substitute of MVC units. Earth-air-pipe heat exchanger (EAPHE) can be utilized as a passive cooling and heating framework by using geothermal energy. This paper intends to display the audit on execution ponder and mechanical advancement of EAPHE at various atmosphere conditions. Exploratory outcomes demonstrate that normal temperature drops to 12–20 °C which can be accomplished that relies upon atmosphere conditions. Normal pipe length, measurement, and air speed inside pipe were discovered 10–100 m, 0.05–0.5 m, and air speed 2–5 m/s separately. These papers additionally recognize the purpose behind non-successful working of the EAPHE and proposed strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the framework to improve cooling of heating impact.

TL;DR: The proposed algorithm is named as, Binomial Crossover Embedded Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (BC-SFLA) and the perturbation rate of the solutions are controlled by the binomial crossover.
Abstract: Shuffled Frog-Leaping Algorithm (SFLA) is a memetic meta-heuristic used for solving various combinatorial optimization problems. SFLA divides population into several memeplexes and then apply evolutionary process to update every memeplex. Like other evolutionary algorithm, it may also suffer from the problem of slow convergence. To improve the convergence and exploitation capability of SFLA, Binomial crossover is embedded. The proposed algorithm is named as, Binomial Crossover Embedded Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (BC-SFLA). In the proposed BC-SFLA, the perturbation rate of the solutions are controlled by the binomial crossover. The proposed algorithm is tested over 15 benchmark test functions and compared with basic SFLA and two other nature inspired algorithms namely gravitational search algorithm (GSA) and differential evolution algorithm (DE). The results state that BC-SFLA is a competitive variant of SFLA.
