01 May 2018TL;DR: The MEMS electromagnetic vibrational energy harvester has been modeled, simulated and it is concluded that a designed structure is able to generate efficient energy density and mechanical stress.
Abstract: Micro-electro mechanical system (MEMS) based on electromagnetic vibration energy harvesters (EM-VEHs) are very ravishing devices in the field of digital world. The main ambition of development of the EM- VEHs is to transformation of circulatory energy in to desired electrical energy. It generates energy through the mechanical vibrations and provides power in to wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) for the imminent internet of things (IOTs). An EM-VEH produces energy and power because of the corresponding motion of the silicon spring between two NdFeB magnets. The electromagnetic energy harvester includes a silicon spring, two miniature NdFeB magnets (one is tuning magnet and other is transducing magnet) and a planner copper micro-coil. In this work the MEMS electromagnetic vibrational energy harvester has been modeled, simulated and it is concluded that a designed structure is able to generate efficient energy density and mechanical stress.

01 Jan 2020TL;DR: In this article, an energy and exergy analysis of building-integrated EATHE and BHE has been studied for a composite climate of Delhi, where a mathematical model has been developed to predict the energy and energy exergy of the system.
Abstract: In this communication, energy and exergy analysis of building-integrated “earth air tunnel heat exchanger” (EATHE) and “borehole heat exchanger” (BHE) has been studied for a composite climate of Delhi. A mathematical model has been developed to predict the energy and exergy of the system. Computational fluid dynamics software has been used to compare the exergetic performance of both the systems. This work is the extension of Kaushik et al. (J Renew Sustain Energy 6(1), 2014 [1]) and Lal et al. (J Renew Sustain Energy 6(2), 023123, 2014 [2]) where economic analysis has been done for both the systems using year-round performance analysis method. It is found that the borehole heat exchanger is more economical in fixed cost and recurring cost and gives improved year-round performance than earth air tunnel heat exchanger.

TL;DR: A comprehensive review on the various power quality problems and various solution techniques using FACTS in Power system and various possible sources and compensation methods of reactive power in power system is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive review on the various power quality problems and various solution techniques using FACTS in Power system. The term “Power Quality” is a broad concept and its meaning is taken different by different peoples. It is associated with electrical transmission, distribution and utilization systems those are having experience of any Voltage, current or frequency divergence from normal operation. Due to power quality problems industries have to invest large amount for mitigation of Voltage sags, distortions, harmonics and short term interruptions/disturbances etc. In paper authors tried to cover various possible sources and compensation methods of reactive power in power system.

01 Sep 2016TL;DR: A new variant of BBO algorithm is introduced, namely Fast Convergent Biogeography based Optimization (FCBBO) Algorithm, where a fitness based position update process is introduced and Mutualism-relationship is introduced in migration process which modifies individuals by evaluating the difference among the finest solution and the mean of two random individuals.
Abstract: Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO) Algorithm is a stochastic and population-based evolutionary search technique modeled on the theory of biogeography. Like other population-based evolutionary algorithms, BBO also suffers from the problem of slow convergence. Therefore, in this article, a new variant of BBO algorithm is introduced, namely Fast Convergent Biogeography based Optimization (FCBBO) Algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, a fitness based position update process is introduced. In the proposed fitness based process, step size of the solutions are controlled through a probability which is a function of fitness. Further, Mutualism-relationship is introduced in migration process which modifies individuals by evaluating the difference among the finest solution and the mean of two random individuals. This modification helps to improve the exploration capability of the proposed algorithm. The developed algorithm compared with BBO and two other algorithms, namely Differential Evolution (DE) Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm with the experiments over 12 test problems. Obtained results confirm the competitive performance of the proposed algorithm.
