01 Jan 2020TL;DR: A modified variant of SMOA that is based on an exponential adaptive strategy for step size that proves the competence of EASMO in the field of SI-based strategies.
Abstract: Spider monkey optimization algorithm (SMOA) is one of the powerful techniques in the arena of swarm intelligence (SI)-based strategies. This article proposes a modified variant of SMOA that is based on an exponential adaptive strategy for step size. During the search of the optimal solution, this exponential strategy is used to adjust the step size so that it can speed up the convergence ability of the swarm. The proposed algorithm is termed as exponential adaptive spider monkey optimization (EASMO) algorithm. This evinced algorithm is tested over 14 standard optimization problems to examine its authenticity. Further, the obtained results are compared with the artificial bee colony (ABC), differential evolution (DE), Gbest-guided artificial bee colony (GABC), particle swarm optimization (PSO), SMOA, and three of its momentous variants, namely levy flight SMOA (LFSMOA), modified limacon SMOA (MLSMOA), and power law-based local search in SMOA (PLSMOA). The analysis of the results proved the competence of EASMO in the field of SI-based strategies.

TL;DR: In this article, potential and economic investigation of a solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plant was carried out to fulfil the electricity demand for Kota-stone industry of Ranpur in Kota, India.
Abstract: In the current study, potential and economic investigation of a solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plant was carried out to fulfil the electricity demand for Kota-stone industry of Ranpur in Kota, India. The electricity load demand of Kota-stone industry for the year 2018 was estimated as 710 kW, for which solar Photovoltaic power plant was proposed. For this plant, 9.05-acre land is required. In the first year of operation the proposed solar PV power plant will produce 2.60 GWh electricity at capacity factor 41.8%. The Levelized cost of electricity was calculated Rs. 7.12 per unit for solar PV power plant, with 25-years life-span of the proposed plant at 10% discount rate.

01 Oct 2018TL;DR: This paper work focuses on current harmonic cancelation, reactive power compensation, neutral current compensation and power factor adjustment in a 3 phase four wire system using shunt active power filter (SAPF) by incorporating synchronizing EPLL with fuzzy logic controller.
Abstract: This paper work focuses on current harmonic cancelation, reactive power compensation, neutral current compensation and power factor adjustment in a 3 phase four wire (3-ph-4w) system using shunt active power filter (SAPF) by incorporating synchronizing EPLL with fuzzy logic controller. The proposed system designed with non-linear uncontrolled rectifier feeding with R-L load, eight IGBT switch for current controlled voltage source inverter, interfacing inductor and DC bus capacitor. Hysteresis controller generates pulses for CI-VSI. The synchronizing EPLL generate sine cosine signals exercised to generate unit vector for reference current generation in SAPF to suppress harmonics. EPLL has advantage over traditional PLL is to maintain same phase between input signal and output signal of voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). Artificial intelligence technique based fuzzy logic controller has incorporated for DC bus voltage regulation. Proposed system is designed under MATLAB/SIMULINK platform 2015(b). The simulation study shows that proposed system mitigate harmonics and improve power quality with efficacy.

01 Jan 2017TL;DR: This article describes the proposed UWB and results indicate that the proposedantennas have been identified and the proposed designs are designed and demonstrated experimentally.
Abstract: This article describes how a compact, low profile Ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with a defected ground structure is designed and demonstrated experimentally. The design and experimentation activities have been carried out with the help of a CST Microwave studio tool. The UWB characteristics of the proposed antenna are achieved with a modification of the ground structure of the referenced antenna with novel L shaped defected ground structure (DGS). Both antennas are fabricated on the same substrate with the dimensions of 28.3 x 24 mm2. The comparative analysis of the results for both antennas clearly indicate that the proposed UWB monopole antenna enhanced the impedance bandwidth from 3.7 GHz – 14.9 GHz without DGS and to 3.4 GHz – 20 GHz with DGS. The enhanced bandwidth, constant group delay and good radiation characteristics of the proposed antenna have identified it as a good candidate for portable UWB applications. 01 Aug 2017TL;DR: In this paper, a population-based numerical stochastic, derivative free optimization algorithm inspired from the biological growth of weed plants is proposed to reduce single-input single-output (SISO) continuous time systems into reduced order model (ROM) using invasive weed optimization.
Abstract: Reduction of single-input single-output (SISO) continuous time systems into reduced order model (ROM) using invasive weed optimization (IWO) has been presented here. IWO is a novel population based numerical stochastic, derivative free optimization algorithm inspired from the biological growth of weed plants. The objective function is the integral square error (ISE), which has been minimized. The step and frequency responses of both low and high order systems have been compared. Also, the performance of IWO has also been compared with other existing techniques in terms of ISE and transient response parameters. It has been observed that IWO outperforms the existing techniques in literature by giving low value of ISE and better transient response's parameters.
