TL;DR: In this article, a radar-absorbing paint (RAP) consisting of U-type Hexaferrite magnetic material Ba4 (Co1-5 x P2 x )2Fe36O60 for (x = 0.05) and polyimide solution is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents characterization and performance evaluation of radar-absorbing paint (RAP) consisting of U-type Hexaferrite magnetic material Ba4 (Co1–5 x P2 x )2Fe36O60 for (x = 0.05) and polyimide solution. In this paper, different methods of RAP characterizations are discussed and with scattering parameter method, permittivity and permeability values are measured using Vector Network Analyser. Reflection loss of the RAP has been computed from the measured complex permittivity and permeability values. RAP has been applied on an artillery shell and its performance evaluation has been carried out using multilevel fast multipole method-based electromagnetic simulation software at various frequencies in X band. Maximum radar cross section reductions of the order of 17 dB have been observed at 10 GHz frequency range.

TL;DR: A hybrid of particle swarm optimization and gray wolf optimization, named the PSO‐GWO algorithm, is proposed for workflow scheduling, which takes advantage of both the standard PSO and GWO algorithms and does not stick in the local optimal solution.
Abstract: Cloud computing is one of the emerging technologies in computer science in which services are provided through the internet on‐demand. Workflow scheduling is considered to be an NP‐hard problem and has a significant issue in the cloud environment. Finding the polynomial‐time solutions for workflow scheduling problem is difficult with most of the existing algorithms designed for traditional computing platforms. Some existing meta‐heuristics algorithms proposed for workflow scheduling problem are stuck in the local optimal solution and fails to give the global optimal solution. In this article, a hybrid of particle swarm optimization and gray wolf optimization, named the PSO‐GWO algorithm, is proposed for workflow scheduling. The proposed algorithm was tested to reduce the total executing cost (TEC) and total execution time (TET) of the dependent tasks in the cloud computing environment. The proposed algorithm takes advantage of both the standard PSO and GWO algorithms and does not stick in the local optimal solution. The experiment results show that the PSO‐GWO outperformed compared with the standard PSO and GWO algorithm in TEC and TET.

01 Jul 2017TL;DR: An overview of the research and development of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for the optimal distributed generation placement (ODGP) problems is given, examining and segregating the several models and methods in this field.
Abstract: Integration of the distributed energy resources in power distribution network has emerged as a significant method to optimize the operation and planning of the power distribution network. The optimal distributed generation placement comprises of obtaining the optimal size and location of the DGs to be placed. Various methods and techniques have been used to obtain the best possible results for optimal DG placement so far with varying objectives and outcomes. This paper gives an overview of the research and development of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for the optimal distributed generation placement (ODGP) problems, examining and segregating the several models and methods in this field. Future possibilities in modifying the application of PSO for ODGP have also been discussed in this paper.

08 Oct 2015TL;DR: The paper presents hybrid fuzzy logic - PID tuning controller for damping low frequency oscillations using Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) applied on a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) system.
Abstract: The paper presents hybrid fuzzy logic - PID tuning controller for damping low frequency oscillations using Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) applied on a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) system. The intention of the Fuzzy Logic based UPFC controller is to damp power system oscillations. UPFC controller depend upon amplitude modulation index of shunt converter (exciter) mE. So this index has been considered. System response with Damped-UPFC controller without fuzzy logic and PID-fuzzy logic (using mamdani-type inference) based UPFC controller is compared at various conditions of power system. Relevant models have been developed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink R2013a. The hybrid PID-Fuzzy Logic based UPFC controller is designed by selecting appropriate controller parameters based on the facts of the power system performance. All studies show that the PID-fuzzy logic controller has an excellent capability in damping low frequency oscillations.

01 Dec 2016TL;DR: In this paper, modified spider monkey optimization is proposed to balance the meta-heuristics mechanisms while preserving premature convergence, a new variant is developed which is named as Modified Spider Monkey Optimization.
Abstract: Spider Monkey Optimization is a well known meta-heuristic in the arena of nature inspired algorithms. It is basically known for its stagnation removal power in its original design. To balance the meta-heuristics mechanisms while preserving premature convergence, a new variant is developed which is named as Modified spider monkey optimization. In this paper, metropolis principle is used from simulated annealing which improves the global search capability of algorithm. In addition to this strength of spider monkey is used for maintaining the step-size to enhance the convergence speed. The intended algorithm is tested over 10 benchmarks functions and compared with Spider monkey optimization, particle swarm optimization and one of its recent variant Self-adaptive spider monkey optimization.
