01 Dec 2018TL;DR: It has been observed that the performance of the developed data acquisition system is high and it is suitable for measuring bio-potentials from four (4) locations simultaneously and reliably.
Abstract: In this paper the design, fabrication and calibration of a battery powered multi-channel low voltage data acquisition system has been described. The aim of the development of the system is to acquire bio-potentials from multiple locations of the human skin simultaneously. Measurement of such bio-potentials is a particular application of the endosomatic measurement of electrodermal activity (EDA). Each of these multiple signals, which are usually low voltages of the order of microvolts and millivolts, are acquired in a differential mode. These differential voltages are stored simultaneously and then processed using a dedicated micro-controller. The micro-controller based design adopted for this system makes it more reliable, with higher resolution and controlled sampling rate. Calibration of this system has been performed and statistical parameters have been determined to quantify the accuracy, precision, linearity and sensitivity of this system for the stated application. It has been observed that the performance of the developed data acquisition system is high and it is suitable for measuring bio-potentials from four (4) locations simultaneously and reliably.

01 Dec 2013TL;DR: In this article, an analytical study related to wind turbine failures was done for a wind farm at Devgarh in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan, India.
Abstract: Wind turbine failure analysis is necessary for efficient operation and maintenance of machines in a wind farm. An analytical study related to wind turbine failures was done for a wind farm at Devgarh in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan, India. Data related to failures were collected from the maintenance log book at wind farm site, and comparison between all the installed wind turbines was done. On analyzing failures of wind turbine components during the three years period, it was observed that failure duration of yaw motor was highest, followed by failure duration of gear-oil pump, and then failure duration of hydraulic unit of blade tip air brakes system.

TL;DR: Results of perceptual quality and robustness confirm that the proposed DCT-NNMF-MOABC watermarking algorithm outperforms the latest schemes present in the state-of-the-art.
Abstract: Although different color image watermarking schemes are developed recently in the literature, rare of them use the color image as a watermark due to the low perceptual appearance of the watermarked image. So in this article, a novel optimization-based color image watermarking is introduced in discrete cosine transform (DCT) and non-negative matrix factorization (NNMF) for improving the imperceptibility, robustness, embedding capacity, and security requirements simultaneously. Firstly, the color cover image is divided into different blocks in each of the dimensions [8, 8]. The DC coefficient of each block is merged to generate the DC matrix, which is further factorized by NNMF to obtain the basis and coefficient matrix. The color watermark is secretly embedded into the basis matrix of each color channel. The multi-objective artificial bee colony (MOABC) is used to enhance the robustness and perceptual quality, by providing the optimal multi embedding strength factor. To improve security, a secret key is created from the watermarked image, which is later required to successfully extract the correct watermark. The experiments are performed on variety of images taken from four different databases and results of perceptual quality and robustness confirm that the proposed DCT-NNMF-MOABC watermarking algorithm outperforms the latest schemes present in the state-of-the-art.

01 Dec 2012TL;DR: A cluster head selection scheme is proposed and implemented with LEACH, which reduces intra-cluster communication distance and hence increases the energy efficiency of LEACH.
Abstract: Wireless sensor networks are energy constraint networks. Energy efficiency, to prolong the network for a longer time is critical issue for wireless sensor network protocols. Clustering is an efficient approach to capitalize the energy of sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks. LEACH is a fully distributed clustering scheme that chooses cluster head randomly from the nodes. In LEACH though node death is random but it is observed that border area nodes die first. But critical field surveillance application requires border nodes to function for much longer time period. In this paper, a cluster head selection scheme is proposed and implemented with LEACH. Proposed scheme divides the network area into two parts: Border area nodes and Inner area nodes. High energy consuming cluster head role is restricted to only inner area nodes. The scheme reduces intra-cluster communication distance and hence increases the energy efficiency of LEACH. Simulation results for proposed scheme shows that border nodes function for longer time as compared to LEACH.
