TL;DR: In this paper, the reliability of capacitive MEMS switches was tested at various power levels indicating that under continuous RF power, the lifetime is not affected until the 510 mW power level is reached.
Abstract: RF MEMS switches provide a low-cost, high-performance solution to many RF/microwave applications. In this paper, progress in characterizing capacitive MEMS devices under high RF power is presented. The switches tested demonstrated power handling capabilities of 510 mW for continuous RF power and 4 W for pulsed RF power. In addition, the reliability of these switches was tested at various power levels indicating that under continuous RF power, the lifetime is not affected until the 510 mW power level is reached. Once a power failure is observed, it is completely recoverable by lowering the RF power level below the threshold point. A description of the power failures and their associated operating conditions is presented.

TL;DR: A platinum film resistor device and method for making the same is described in this paper, where a layer of quartz, deposited upon an insulative substrate preferably silicon, is sputter etched at high power levels to produce etch pits in the surface thereof.
Abstract: A platinum film resistor device and method for making the same. A layer of quartz, deposited upon an insulative substrate preferably silicon, is sputter etched at high power levels to produce etch pits in the surface thereof. A layer of platinum is then deposited over the quartz layer by first sputtering platinum at high power for a relatively short period of time and then completing the layer by continuing to sputter deposit platinum at a lower power. A second layer of quartz is deposited over the layer of platinum and the second layer of quartz masked and chemically etched away in the regions where portions of the platinum layer are to be removed. The exposed platinum and a portion of the second quartz layer are then sputter etched away leaving the platinum in a predetermined configuration. The platinum is then annealed, the second quartz layer removed above the lead bonding pads, and external leads attached. The device is particularly useful in temperature measuring application.

TL;DR: In this paper, a SAW oscillator circuit including a housing having disposed therein a surface wave propagation supporting substrate with a pair of transducers coupled by surface waves propagating through the substrate and electronic circuitry connected to the coupled transducers and arranged to provide, with the connected resonator, the SAW Oscillator circuit.
Abstract: A SAW oscillator circuit including a housing having disposed therein a surface wave propagation supporting substrate with a pair of transducers coupled by surface waves propagating through the substrate and electronic circuitry connected to the pair of transducers and arranged to provide, with the connected resonator, the SAW oscillator circuit. A weight is attached to the resonator. The housing is susceptible of vibratory deflections which induce vibratory deflections in the substrate and the weight suppresses the vibratory deflections induced in the substrate of the resonator. With such arrangement, while sufficiently thick externally mounted stiffeners are not used because of space limitations, the effects of vibratory deflections induced in the substrate of the insufficiently thick, or un-stiffened housing are compensated by the weight attached to the resonator.

TL;DR: In this paper, a database access system includes a remote client application, a database having a plurality of data records, and a data event agent, which is coupled to the database through a firewall.
Abstract: In one embodiment, a database access system includes a remote client application, a database having a plurality of data records, and a data event agent. The database has a plurality of data records and is coupled to the data event agent. The data event agent is remotely coupled to the remote client application through a firewall and operable to receive a query from the remote client application. In response to receipt of the query, the data event agent stores the query in memory in order to continually filter additions and modifications to data records against the one or more filter criteria included in the query. In the event that a data record matches the query, the data event agent transmits the data record to the remote client application.
