Abstract: Though recently Ir(III) complexes have attracted much interest in electrochemiluminescent (ECL) analysis due to their high emission in various wavelengths, there were a few studies reported on its analytical applications. In this study, we evaluate the ECL from (pq)2Ir(acac) (pq = 2-phenylquinolate, acac = acetylacetonate) for the use in flow injection analysis. An aqueous solution of the analyte and (pq)2Ir(acac) passes through the reaction/observation cell, and then ECL reaction is generated by electrochemical initiation on the analyte and (pq)2Ir(acac). Tri-n-propylamine (TPrA) is used as a representative analyte for evaluation. Additionally, a comparison is made of the relative ECL intensities obtained for a variety of analytes including oxalate, amino acids, aliphatic amines, and NADH. The (pq)2Ir(acac) produces efficient ECL upon TPrA exhibiting the limit of detection of 5 nM with a linear range of 3 orders of magnitude in concentration whereas 20 nM is observed in the conventional Ru(bpy)32+ system. It shows particular sensitivity advantages for oxalate, proline, and tartaric acid. The ECL generation upon various analytes proposes direct applicability of (pq)2Ir(acac) as a post-column detection tool.

Abstract: A new concept of nonparametric signal detection and classification technique is proposed using mutual information measures in the time-frequency domain. The time-frequency-based self-information and mutual information are defined in terms of the cross time-frequency distribution. Based on time-frequency mutual information theory, this paper presents applications of the proposed technique to real-world vibration data obtained from a dedicated condition-based-maintenance experimental test bed. Baseline, unbalanced, and misaligned experimental settings of helicopter drivetrain bearings and shafts are quantitatively distinguished by the proposed techniques. With imbalance quantifiable by variance in the in-phase mutual information and misalignment quantifiable by variance in the quadrature mutual information developed and presented herein, machine health classification can be accomplished by use of statistical bounding regions.

Abstract: Purpose: To examine delivery type of mother who have had a previous cesarean and identify maternal factors related to type of delivery. Methods: The study sample included 60,504 mothers who had delivered through cesarean section. Related variables were categorized as sociodemographic factors (age, residence, health insurance type, income level) and clinical characteristics (14 maternal factor, 4 fetal factor and pre-term). For data analysis, and multivariate logistic regression were conducted. Results: Among the 60,504mothers, 3,075 were delivered through Vaginal Birth After C-Section (VBAC) and the VBAC rate was 5.1%. Underage 34, the VBAC rate increased according to age increases up to 3%. Mothers residing in urban areas had VBAC more frequently than mothers in rural area. Mothers in the high and middle income levels had a greater possibility of having VBAC than mothers in lower income levels. A greater likelihood of increase in repeated cesarean section were found in mothers with maternal and fetal factors. Conclusion: Evidence based nursing practice guidelines and education programs for previous cesarean section mothers and health policy are needed to increase VBAC.
