TL;DR: The extracutaneous form and the atypical forms are a challenge to a newly developed serological test, introduced as an auxiliary tool for the diagnosis of unusual clinical forms of sporotrichosis.
Abstract: For a long time sporotrichosis has been regarded to have a low incidence in Brazil; however, recent studies demonstrate that not only the number of reported cases but also the incidence of more severe or atypical clinical forms of the disease are increasing. Recent data indicate that these more severe forms occur in about 10% of patients with confirmed diagnosis. The less frequent forms, mainly osteoarticular sporotrichosis, might be associated both with patient immunodepression and zoonotic transmission of the disease. The extracutaneous form and the atypical forms are a challenge to a newly developed serological test, introduced as an auxiliary tool for the diagnosis of unusual clinical forms of sporotrichosis.

TL;DR: In this article, the W and Z boson production cross sections in pp collisions at 7 TeV are presented, based on 2.9 inverse picobarns of data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC.
Abstract: Measurements of inclusive W and Z boson production cross sections in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV are presented, based on 2.9 inverse picobarns of data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The measurements, performed in the electron and muon decay channels, are combined to give sigma(pp to WX) times B(W to muon or electron + neutrino) = 9.95 \pm 0.07(stat.) \pm 0.28(syst.) \pm 1.09(lumi.) nb and sigma(pp to ZX) times B(Z to oppositely charged muon or electron pairs) = 0.931 \pm 0.026(stat.) \pm 0.023(syst.) \pm 0.102(lumi.) nb. Theoretical predictions, calculated at the next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD using recent parton distribution functions, are in agreement with the measured cross sections. Ratios of cross sections, which incur an experimental systematic uncertainty of less than 4%, are also reported.

TL;DR: The Ribeira belt in southeastern Brazil was generated during the Brazilian Orogeny (∼ 700-450 Ma) as discussed by the authors, which is characterized by a series of northwest-vergent crustal-scale thrust stacks emplaced under amphibolite-grade conditions.

TL;DR: The taxas de mortalidade quanto as de fecundidade estao decaindo significativamente for a populacao brasileira, como um todo, desde 1940 e 1960, respectively,.
Abstract: Sao apresentados dados mostrando que tanto as taxas de mortalidade quanto as de fecundidade estao decaindo significativamente para a populacao brasileira, como um todo, desde 1940 e 1960, respectivamente.

Abstract: This paper presents a system for database linkage based on the probabilistic record linkage technique, developed in the C++ language with the Borland C++ Builder version 3.0 programming environment. The system was tested in the linkage of data sources of different sizes, evaluated both in terms of processing time and sensitivity for identifying true record pairs. Significantly less time was spent in record processing when the program was used, as compared to manual processing, especially in situations where larger databases were used. Manual and automatic processes had equivalent sensitivities in situations where we used databases with fewer records. However, as the number of records grew we noticed a clear reduction in the sensitivity of the manual process, but not in the automatic one. Although in its initial stage of development, the system performed well in terms of both processing speed and sensitivity. Although overall performance of algorithms was satisfactory, we intend to evaluate other routines in the attempt to improve the system's performance.
