TL;DR: Typhoid intestinal perforation is still a problem in developing countries due to absence of potable drinking water, poor hygiene and improper waste disposal, according to this retrospective study of children operated on for TIP in Enugu, Nigeria.
Abstract: Background: Typhoid intestinal perforation is serious complication of typhoid fever and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in developing countries. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence, pattern and outcome of treatment of typhoid intestinal perforation (TIP) in children in a teaching hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients aged 15 years and below operated on for TIP in the pediatric surgery unit of Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH) Enugu, Nigeria. Medical records of pediatric patients who had laparotomy for TIP over a 10-year period were evaluated. Results: There were 200 cases of TIP and this accounted for 35.7% of all pediatric surgeries performed during the period of the study. There were 150 (75%) males and 50 (25%) females which correspond to a male female ratio of 3:1. The ages of the patients ranged from 6 to 15 years with a median of 11 years. One hundred percent of the patients had fever and abdominal pain. Anemia, hypokalemia and a single ileal perforation were recorded in most of the patients. Primary closure of the perforation was the most common performed surgical procedure. Surgical site infection, burst abdomen and residual intra-peritoneal abscess accounted for most of the post-operative complications. Mortality was 8.5%. Conclusions: TIP is still a problem in developing countries due to absence of potable drinking water, poor hygiene and improper waste disposal. TL;DR: Results showed a prevalence of 30% of Vibrio cholerae among the people of Andoni Local Government and most of the cholera infection observed were because of a bad water source and contaminated sea food consumption.
Abstract: This study aims at determining the prevalence of Vibrio cholerae among the people of Andoni Local Government. One hundred stool samples were collected after administering well-structured questionnaire and were analysed with standard microbiological techniques which includes; macroscopy, microscopy, culture on thiosulphate-citrate-bile salts-sucrose agar, Gram staining and biochemical tests (indole, motility, catalase and oxidase tests). Results showed a prevalence of 30% of Vibrio cholerae. Vibrio parahaemolyticus was also isolated with a prevalence rate of 42%. Among the predisposing factors, the prevalence rate of vibrio species based on demographic data showed positive with 77.8% of those tested within the age range 11-15years, 80% of those tested within the age range 16-20years while 6-10years and 26-30years had 0%. Among the sexes, 78.2% of the females and 64.4% of males tested were positive. In the religion category, 75.8% positive among Christians tested and 33.3% among other religious groups tested. Based on educational qualification, the primary students 42.9% of those tested were positive, 85.2% for secondary and 0% among tertiary students. Among the occupational status, 83.3 of those doing business, 20% of civil servants, 73.3% of self-employed and 75% of students were positive among each category tested. Based on the different communities, 100% of those from Ajakajak, 100% from Apahia, 100% of those from Dema, 71.4% of those from Ibotirem, 66.7% of those from Udung-Ama and 0% of those from Ngo were positive among each category tested. Most of the cholera infection observed were because of a bad water source and contaminated sea food consumption

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that copyright is a human right and that it is made up of private and public interests of equal priority, and that the best way to mediate the interaction of copyright and other human rights is to engage in a balancing of the rights.
Abstract: An unexplored perspective of Laugh It Off Promotions v South African Breweries Ltd 2006 (1) SA 144 (CC) is that it was also about the construction of the "public interest" through the freedom of expression This article builds on the jurisprudence of the South African Constitutional Court in this case to examine how the South African judiciary can construct a meaningful public interest in South African copyright law Presently that interest is not as prominent as the private interest Proceeding from the stand point that copyright is a human right and that it is made up of private and public interests of equal priority, this article asserts that the best way to mediate the interaction of copyright and other human rights is to engage in a balancing of the rights To accomplish this in a meaningful way, this article deconstructs copyright and examines how the private and public interests in copyright interact with other human rights such as the freedom of expression, constitutional property and the right to privacy The article ends by proposing different options open to the judiciary to construct the public interest

TL;DR: In this article, pengaruh filsafat, kebudayaan and agama terhadap pendidikan and pengembangan sumberdaya manusia di bidang teknik.

TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of the Bestman and Chandrasekar methods is used to solve the eigenvalue problem with two-dimensional disturbances for the case of stationary convection, and the effect of collision on the onset of stationary cells diminishes for the optical thin non-grey plasma-near equilibrium.
Abstract: The thermosolutal instability of a radiating two-component plasma, in a porous medium in the presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field, is examined with respect to the effects of collision frequency and radiative transfer. A combination of the Bestman and Chandrasekar methods is used to solve the eigenvalue problem with two-dimensional disturbances for the case of stationary convection. Radiation present on the onset of instability is found to have a destabilizing effect for even a very small radiation parameter, of the orderα(0.1). concentration gradient on the other hand has a stabilizing effect on the system. The effect of collision on the onset of stationary cells diminishes for the optical thin non-grey plasma-near equilibrium. This is of paramount importance in cosmic ray physics, as the interaction between the ionized and neutral gas components represents a state which often exists in the universe.
