TL;DR: In this article, a study targeted at modeling exchange rate and Nigerian deposit banks money market dynamics using trivariate form of multivariate GARCH model was conducted, which revealed the presence of two directional volatility spillovers between the two sets of variables.
Abstract: The risks associated with exchange rate and money market indicators have drawn the attentions of econometricians, researchers, statisticians, and even investors in deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study targeted at modeling exchange rate and Nigerian deposit banks money market dynamics using trivariate form of multivariate GARCH model. Data for the period spanning from 1991 to 2017 on exchange rate (Naira/Dollar) and money market indicators (Maximum and prime lending rate) were sourced for from the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) online statistical database. The study specifically investigated; the dynamics of the variance and covariance of volatility returns between exchange rate and money market indicators in Nigeria were examine whether there exist a linkage in terms of returns and volatility transmission between exchange rate and money market indicators in Nigeria and compared the difference in Multivariate BEKK GARCH considering restrictive indefinite under the assumption of normality and that of student’s –t error distribution. Preliminary time series checks were done on the data and the results revealed the present of volatility clustering. Results reveal the estimate of the maximum lag for exchange rate and money market indicators were 4 respectively. Also, the results confirmed that there were two co-integrating equations in the relationship between the returns on exchange rate and money market indicators. The results of the diagonal MGARCH –BEKK estimation confirmed that diagonal MGARCH –BEKK in students’-t was the best fitted and an appropriate model for modeling exchange rate and Nigerian deposit money market dynamics using trivariate form of multivariate GARCH model. Also, the study confirmed presence of two directional volatility spillovers between the two sets of variables.

TL;DR: This paper explored what journalists understand by news routine as well as explore the link between such understanding and journalists identification, description, expansion and dissemination of social meaning in Nigeria, and concluded that such legitimization constitutes impediment to Nigeria's development by undermining journalists' capacity forcapacious construction and dissemination.
Abstract: The search for the best model for journalism practice has inspired debates right from the ancient European era through to the era of the Penny Press in the formative years of the United States to the present. This paper is designed to explore what journalists understand by news routine as well as to explore the link between such understanding and journalists’ identification, description, expansion and dissemination of social meaning in Nigeria. In conformity with the notion that the representativeness of a sample to the general population is of no significance in qualitative research, a theoretical sample of three Nigerian newspaper texts were interpreted in accordance with analytic procedures prescribed in Semiotics and Critical Discourse Analysis. When Focus Group data were triangulated with the representation made with the newspaper texts, the finding was that Nigerian journalists legitimize the arbitrary by embracing rigid ideologically-tainted news routines. Conclusion is that such legitimization constitutes impediment to Nigeria’s development by undermining journalists’ capacity forcapacious construction and dissemination of social meaning.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors aimed at determining those problems associated with hospitality industry failures in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and proposed a systematic approach to solve the problems becoming increasingly necessary with the everchanging nature of the Nigerian business environment.
Abstract: This article is aimed at determining those problems associated with hospitality industry failures in Port Harcourt. With the ever-changing nature of the Nigerian business environment, a systematic approach to solve the problems becomes increasingly necessary. Coupled with the rapid increase in the number of corporate bodies and products or services today than before also calls for special attention. Base on what we gathered, to prosper in the business, either the individual must continue to add to his present skills and knowledge or he must gather around him human resources whose personality, training, skills, and energy can be combined into a productive corporate organization.

TL;DR: In this article, the monthly exchange rates between the Central African Franc (XAF) and the US Dollar (USD) are modeled by SARIMA techniques, and two models, (1, 0, 5)x(0, 1, 0) 12 and (0, 2, 1), 1, 1 )x( 0, 1.1, 1) 12, are proposed and fitted.
Abstract: The monthly exchange rates between the Central African Franc (XAF) and the US Dollar (USD) are herein modeled by SARIMA techniques The realization from January 1997 to March 2013 (referred to as XDER herein) is analyzed in this work The time plot of XDER in Figure 1 shows an overall upward secular trend with no obvious regular seasonal component As expected, XDER is shown to be non-stationary by the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) test Seasonal (ie 12-monthly) differencing of XDER yields the series SDXDER which shows an overall horizontal trend, yet with no definite seasonal movement (See figure 2) The ADF test certifies SDXDER as stationary Its correlogram in Figure 4 suggests an ARMA(1, 5) model fit A non-seasonal differencing of SDXDER yields the series DSDXDER which exhibits an overall horizontal trend No seasonal component is discernible from the visual inspection of its time plot of Figure 3 However its correlogram in Figure 5 has a significant negative spike at lag 12 and comparable spikes at lags 11 and 13, an indication of a 12 monthly seasonality and the presence of a seasonal moving average component of order one Moreover this is the autocorrelation structure of a (0, 1, 1)x(0, 1, 1) 12 SARIMA model Hence the two models, (1, 0, 5)x(0, 1, 0) 12 and (0, 1, 1)x(0, 1, 1) 12 , are proposed and fitted The latter has been shown to be the more adequate

TL;DR: It was concluded that selection for plumage colour showed great potential in determining the probability of chicks being autosexed and results on the direct crosses of NLRXNLW and RIRxNLW suggest that the pattern of inheritance of plumage Colour is not simple.
Abstract: This study was conducted to determine auto-sexing potential in Rhode Island, Nigerian local chicken and their reciprocal crosses. A total of 241 eggs were set in the incubator to deter ine the fertility, hatchability, % Hatch, % dead in shell, % dead in cell and % deformed chicks in the four genotypes (Rhode Island Red (RIR) x Rhode Island White (RIW), Rhode Island Red (RIR) x Rhode Island White (RIW), Nigerian Local Red (NLR) x Rhode Island White (RIW) and Nigerian Local Red (NLR) x Nigerian Local White (NLW). Only 94 eggs were hatched. RIRXRIW crossbred chicks had the highest percentage fertility of 88.89% followed by RIRxRIW (86.27%), NLRXRIW (77.36%) and NLRxNLW (72.31%), respectively. RIRxNLW had the highest percentage hatchability of 65.19%, followed by RIRxRIW (51.56%), NLRxNLW (51.06%) and NLRxRIW (24.39%). It was observed in thehatch-out analysis that the cross between NLRxRIW had the highest percentage of dead in shell (29.27%) followed by RIRxRIW (17.19%), NLRxNLW (17.02%) and RIRxNLW (11.36%), respectively. The highest percentage of dead in cell was recorded in NLRxRIW crossbred (43.33%), followed by NLRxNLW (31.92%), RIRxRIW (28.13%) and RIRxNLW (15.91%). The observed deformed chicks were highest in NLRxNLW (20.85%) followed by RIRxNLW (10.34%), RIRxRIW (6.06%) and NLRxNLW (0%), respectively. Also observed was the occurrence of bangers with NLRxRIW, having the highest occurrence of bangers (9.08%) and with NLRxNLW having no occurrence of bangers. The records of weekly body weight were taken on the 94 chicks and chi square analysis was used to test colour inheritance of chicks. Significant (P 0.05) and RIRxNLW (179.75g) crossbred chicks which had the lowest bodyweight at 8 weeks of age. The chi square (X2) analysis revealed that both RIRxRIW and NLRxRIW crossbred chicks were autosexed. The study concluded that selection for plumage colour showed great potential in determining the probability of chicks being autosexed. Also, pure bred of RIRXRIW and reciprocal cross of NLRXRIW showed great potential of producing autosexed chicks, while results on the direct crosses of NLRXNLW and RIRXNLW suggest that the pattern of inheritance of plumage colour is not simple. The study recommends further investigation to further ascertain the mode of plumage colour inheritance in the Nigerian Local Chickens. Keywords: Auto-sexing, plumage, growth performance
