TL;DR: Fourteen and twenty one day larvae were exposed to abrupt stepwise change in salinity for 96 hours to determine mortality, median lethal mortality, MLS and median lethal time, MLT.
Abstract: Fourteen and twenty one day larvae were exposed to abrupt stepwise change in salinity (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 ppt) for 96 hours to determine mortality, median lethal mortality, MLS and median lethal time, MLT. The fourteen day-old fry that were exposed to 0 – 6 ppt recorded 90%, 87.5% 77.5% and 10% survival at the end of the 96 hours test period. Those that were subjected to 8 ppt and 10 ppt had 100% morality within 48 and 12 hours, respectively. The median lethal salinity at 96 hours (MLS-96) was 4.4 ppt which was about half the value for 6 ppt. The cumulative mortality of the graded salinities did not differ in 4 and 8 ppt but differed in 6 and 10 ppt, whereas the time intervals differed at 24 and 36 hours but did not differ at 48 – 96 hours, p<0.05. The 21 day-old fingerlings transferred into 8, 10 and 12ppt, recorded 100% mortality with 12, 3 and 2 hours, respectively. Those transferred into 0, 4 and 6 ppt had 100%, 80% and 10% survival, respectively at the end of 96hours test period. The median lethal salinity (MLS-96) for 6 and 12 hours were the same 7.19 ppt, while that for 48 hours was 4.79 ppt. The median lethal time (MLT 50 ) for 8 ppt was 8.55 hours, which was seven and half times the value for 4 ppt. The cumulative mortality the various salinity concentrations were not different in 10 and 12 ppt, but differ in 4 – 8 ppt, p<0.05. Mortality at various time intervals did not differ at 36 – 96 hours, but did at 3 and 6 hours, p<0.05.

TL;DR: Okechukwu et al. as discussed by the authors conducted a study to determine the extent of use, abuse and dependence of commonly abused psychoactive substances and their correlates among undergraduates in the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Abstract: Aim: This study set out to determine the extent of use, abuse and dependence of commonly abused psychoactive substances and their correlates among undergraduates in the University of Port Harcourt. Methodology: In a cross-sectional survey, using multi-stage sampling, undergraduates in the Social sciences faculty of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria were selected. A semi-structured questionnaire adapted from the WHO student drug survey proforma was used as an instrument for data collection. The results were analysed using EPI-info 2000 statistical package. Results: There were 352 respondents with a mean age of 24.4 ± 3.5 years. There were 203 (57.7%) males and 149 (42.3%) females. A majority of respondents (90.6%) use at least one psychoactive substance while 22.2% of them abuse substances. The male sex predominated Original Research Article Okechukwu et al.; INDJ, 15(3): 11-19, 2021; Article no.INDJ.66556 12 among the substance abusers with a M: F ratio of 2:1. The prevalence of current use for psychoactive substances ranged from 1.3% to 74.9%. Alcohol (74.9%), was the most commonly used psychoactive substances while heroin (1.3%), was the least used. Abuse rates were higher in cocaine, tobacco and cannabis (66.7%, 63.6% and 55.3% respectively) while dependency rates were higher in heroin, cannabis and cocaine (100.0%, 76.2% and 50.0% respectively). The top three reasons given for starting to use psychoactive substances were experimentation (23.1%), group conformity (23.1%) and curiosity (20.5%) while the reasons given for continuing to use/abuse these substances were to feel good (37.2%), relieve stress (20.0%) and avoid withdrawal symptoms (11.5%). The majority (70.5%) of psychoactive substance users started to use substances before enrolment into the university while more than half of the substance users (56.4%) admitted that being in the university did not increase their use of psychoactive substances. Adverse effects on productivity were noted in 60.3% of substance users. Conclusion: The tendency to abuse substances may begin earlier in childhood and adolescent ages, with the male sex, more vulnerable. More efforts at public enlightenment on the detrimental effects of psychoactive substances should be strategically targeted to include the family unit, primary and secondary school children.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used modeling and simulation to determine other effect that could influence the behaviour of this materials in compressive strength, this was to determine the significant effect on the addictive applied as partial replacement for cement, lots of experts has done works on fly ash through experiment concept, but the application of predictive concept has not been carried out.
Abstract: Wood and fly ash were observed to have significant qualities that could improved the strength of self compacting concrete, the material were applied to increase the compressive strength of concrete strength, this material could be the demanding material for partial replacement for cement, the study observed the behaviour of the material from experts that applied these material through experimental investigation, but the study monitored the behaviour of this material by applied modeling and simulation to determine other effect that could influence the behaviour of this materials in compressive strength, this was to determine the significant effect on the addictive applied as partial replacement for cement, lots of experts has done works on fly ash through experiment concept, but the application of predictive concept has not be carried out, the adoption of this concept has expressed other parameters that contributed to the efficiency of wood and fly ash as partial replacement for cement on self compacting concrete. The study adopting modeling and simulation observed 10 and 20% by weight of cement as it is reflected on its performance in the simulation, from the simulation wood recorded 10% as it was observed from the growth rate of this self compacting concrete reflected from the trend, the simulation for model validation were compared with the works of the studies carried out [20]. And both values developed best fits correlation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the relationship between procedural justice and organizational citizenship behavior in Deposit Money banks in Rivers State and found that workplace justice significantly impacts on the measures of OCB (altruism and sportsmanship).
Abstract: Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between procedural justice and organizational citizenship behaviour in Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State. The effects of procedural justice was tested on organizational citizenship behaviour measures such as altruism and sportsmanship.Methodology: The study adopted a cross sectional survey design and data was generated from 193 respondents from the target Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State. As a quantitative study, the primary data collection instrument for the study was the structured questionnaire. The test for the reliability for the instrument was carried out using the Cronbach alpha reliability instrument with a reliability threshold of 0.70. The Analysis comprised of the univariate (single variable assessments) bivariate (test for hypothetical relationships) while the bivariate analysis was carried out using the Spearman’s rank order correlation coefficient at a 0.05 level of significance.Findings: Findings from the study revealed that workplace justice significantly impacts on the measures of OCB (altruism and sportsmanship) and also organizational culture was revealed to also significantly moderate the relationship between workplace justice and organizational citizenship behaviour in Deposit Money Banks in Rivers State. Based on the findings, it was concluded that there is significant relationship between the predictor and the measures of the criterion variables.Contribution to practice and Policy: The study recommended that OCB within an organization could be significantly increased by enhancing organizational fairness, particularly procedural justice. Bank managers should first improve the procedural justice and hence increase overall levels of perceived justice by involving employees in the procedures used in making decisions and allocating rewards

TL;DR: Onu et al. as mentioned in this paper examined the relationship between self-awareness and employee work life balance of indigenous oil and gas firms in Rivers State, and found that there is a significant relationship between Self-Awareness and Employee Work Life Balance (flexible work schedule and telecommunicating).
Abstract: This study examined the relationship between self-awareness and employee work life balance of indigenous oil and gas firms in Rivers State. T he study adopted a cross-sectional survey in its investigation of the variables. Primary data was generated through structured administered questionnaire. The population for the study was 6410 employees of ten (10) indigenous oil and gas firms in Rivers State. The sample size of 377 was determined using the Taro Yamane’s formula for sample size determination. The reliability of the instrument was achieved by the use of the Cronbach Alpha coefficient with all the items scoring above 0.70. The hypotheses were tested using the Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation Coefficient with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 23.0. The study findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between self-awareness and employee work life balance (flexible work schedule and telecommunicating) . The study recommended that employees should increase methods for self-awareness to further increase employee work life balancing in the oil and gas industry and there is need for employees and managers to harmonize their inter-relationship and manage self-awareness for better employee work life balancing.
