TL;DR: In this paper, the adsorption and treatment of organic contaminants using activated carbon from waste Nigerian bamboo was investigated and the experimental batch equilibrium data was correlated by Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms.
Abstract: The adsorption and treatment of organic contaminants using activated carbon from waste Nigerian bamboo was investigated. Waste Nigerian bamboo was carbonized at 400oC-500oC and activated with acid at 800oC to produce granular activated carbon (GAC). Adsorption of organics from the refinery waste on the activated carbon produced was examined at 28oC. The experimental batch equilibrium data was correlated by Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms. The adsorption data fitted well into the Freundlich isotherm. Breakthrough time of about 1.5 hours was observed for the fixed bed adsorption process. The organic concentration expressed as chemical oxygen demand (COD) was reduced from an initial value of 378 mg/l to 142 mg/l for the first hour, 143 mg/l for the second hour, 152 mg/l for the third and fourth hours, and 156 mg/l for the final hour, which also compare favorably with the refinery effluent specification of 150 mg/l Results from the study shows that waste Nigerian bamboo can be converted into high capacity adsorbent and used for the remediation of polluted industrial waste waters

TL;DR: In this paper, the recycling of poultry litter as part replacement for soya bean in livestock nutrition is discussed, which is the by-product of poultry waste in order to meet the growing human demands for animal protein foods.
Abstract: The compelling need to harness the potentials of the numerous agro-industrial by-products and the so-called “wastes” as part replacement for the more expensive conventional feed ingredients have been seriously expressed. This need has arisen mainly from the increasing demand and supply deficit of conventional feed resources with a concomitant sharp rise in their cost prices. The net effect of increased unit cost of the conventional feed resources is increased cost of the compounded rations, which by extension gives rise to increased cost of meat and animal products. It then becomes highly imperative that other sources for rapid livestock output to meet the growing human demands for animal protein foods are sourced. Such other sources should be cheap and nutritionally adequate for feeding animals with the aim of lowering the cost of producing meat. One of such measure is the recycling of poultry litter as part replacement for soya bean in livestock nutrition. Poultry litter is the by-product of poultry pro...

TL;DR: Makalah ini membahas posisi nurani dalam kehidupan moral masyarakat Ibani as mentioned in this paper, in which nuraninya memilah putusanputusan moral.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the habitat use of some species of carnivore mammals in two protected areas of Burkina Faso (Comoe-Leraba and Nazinga) and found that shrub savannah represented the best habitat type for carnivores.
Abstract: Apparent density [determined as kilometric index of abundance (KIA), by direct sightings and by droppings along line transects] and habitat use of some species of carnivore mammals were studied in two protected areas of Burkina Faso (Comoe-Leraba and Nazinga). Despite the fact that the dataset was collected throughout several years and with a very high field effort, the amount of data collected was relatively small, and confined just to a few species. There was no effect of the year on the average KIA estimates of the carnivores at this study area, and data from direct sightings along transects estimated lower densities than those coming from droppings collected along the same transects. In terms of habitat type, shrub savannah represented the best habitat type for carnivores, despite being relatively scarcely available along the line transects when compared with woody savannah (especially for Canis adustus and Civettictis civetta).

TL;DR: This paper is aimed at proposing an intervention model to explain the sharp rise in the amount of Naira from 0.35 to 0.49 per XOF from 21 st to 22 nd June 2016, believed to be the current Nigerian economic recession which is bedevilling the country.
Abstract: A look at the time-plot of daily exchange rates of West African Franc (XOF) and the Nigerian Naira (NGN) from 19 th May 2016 to 13 th November 2016 reveals a sharp rise in the amount of Naira from 0.35 to 0.49 per XOF from 21 st to 22 nd June 2016. From that point onward the naira keeps reducing relatively. This is an intervention case. This means that the point of intervention is 22 nd June 2016. It is believed that this intervention is the current Nigerian economic recession which is bedevilling the country. This paper is aimed at proposing an intervention model to explain this phenomenon. The method to adopt is the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) method. The pre-intervention exchange rates are non-stationary. Differencing it once makes it stationary. Its partial autocorrelation and autocorrelation structures suggest a random noise fit. The difference between post-intervention forecasts and observations is modelled for the intervention transfer function. This is observed to be statistically significant and the forecasts based on it are very closely in agreement with the corresponding observations. Keywords— XOF, NGN, exchange rates, Intervention analysis, ARIMA modelling
