TL;DR: In this article, the boundary behavior of the functions G μ ⊞ ν ( z ) = ∫ 1 z − t d ( μ ⌈ ν ) ( t ) and ψ μ ∠ ν( z ) was analyzed and it was shown that these functions extend continuously to the boundary of their natural domains as functions with values in the extended complex plane C ∪ { ∞ }.
Abstract: Let μ ⊞ ν and μ ⊠ ν denote the free additive convolution and the free multiplicative convolution, respectively, of the Borel probability measures μ and ν. We analyze the boundary behavior of the functions G μ ⊞ ν ( z ) = ∫ 1 z − t d ( μ ⊞ ν ) ( t ) and ψ μ ⊠ ν ( z ) = ∫ z t 1 − z t d ( μ ⊠ ν ) ( t ) . We prove that, under certain conditions, these functions extend continuously to the boundary of their natural domains as functions with values in the extended complex plane C ∪ { ∞ } . As a consequence, we obtain that μ ⊞ ν (respectively μ ⊠ ν ) can never be purely singular, unless μ or ν is concentrated in one point.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel approach for the fabrication of hydrogel nanocomposites exhibiting temperature and magneto-responsive behavior involves the random copolymerization of hexa(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (HEGMA, hydrophilic, thermoresponsive) and 2-(acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacyl (AEMA), in the presence of preformed oleic-acid-coated magnetite nanoparticles (OA·Fe 3 O 4 ).

08 May 2007TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that a contraction on a Hilbert space is complex sym- metric if and only if the values of its characteristic function are all symmetric with respect to a fixed conjugation.
Abstract: It is shown that a contraction on a Hilbert space is complex sym- metric if and only if the values of its characteristic function are all symmetric with respect to a fixed conjugation. Applications are given to the description of complex symmetric contractions with defect indices equal to 2.

TL;DR: A newly fabricated nanophyto-modified wound dressing with microbicidal and anti-adherence properties is reported, which seems to be a very useful tool for the prevention of wound microbial contamination on viable tissues.
Abstract: This paper reports a newly fabricated nanophyto-modified wound dressing with microbicidal and anti-adherence properties. Nanofluid-based magnetite doped with eugenol or limonene was used to fabricate modified wound dressings. Nanostructure coated materials were characterized by TEM, XRD, and FT-IR. For the quantitative measurement of biofilm-embedded microbial cells, a culture-based method for viable cell count was used. The optimized textile dressing samples proved to be more resistant to staphylococcal and pseudomonal colonization and biofilm formation compared to the uncoated controls. The functionalized surfaces for wound dressing seems to be a very useful tool for the prevention of wound microbial contamination on viable tissues.

TL;DR: Risk assessment for environmental projects consists of studying the probability that projects will achieve a satisfactory performance for threshold - values of internal rate of return (IRR) or net present value (NPV).
Abstract: Risk assessment for environmental projects consists of studying the probability that projects will achieve a satisfactory performance for threshold - values of internal rate of return (IRR) or net present value (NPV). Risk analysis identifies and estimates risks and their level as well as measures considered to mitigate their negative impact. Quantitative risk analysis is performed for estimating the risk of the project by numeric resources. Monte Carlo simulation method can be widely applied in this area due to the advantages recognized both by practitioners and the academic community. By using this method, the distribution of all possible outcomes of an event is generated by analyzing a model several times, each time using random input values selected from the probability distributions considered normal of the components that comprise the model.
